Does anyone know anything about an Australian hurdler named Faugh-a-Ballagh?
I know there was an Irish-bred horse of the same name, but he that was born in 1841.
The Australian horse was winning races in the mid-1860s (e.g. second at the VRC Meet in 1865, winning in 1868; example news article (http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=PBH18851110.2.14&l=mi&e=-------10--1----0-all)) and went up for sale in 1880 (sale notice (http://newspapers.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/5977264)), so I really doubt they were the same horse.
I'm primarily interested in bloodlines and maybe finding a portrait. I've had some luck finding races won in old newspaper articles, but I can't find background information.
