I just spent like 30 mins typing out this whole post about all these strangr but good things and then poof, IE just erased my post - nothing else - just the words in the post. WTH? So this is the condensed version.
Showed 1:4 twice yesterday. Layla was not herself. Calm and relaxed in the stall. Totally easy going and not tense under saddle. We had 2 lovely flowing tests. She didnt rear in her stall. Hardly any weaving. She was just totally content.
First time out, we scored 63.684% and 2nd place - beat out by a professional (judge/trainer) as we were grouped together. Second time out, we scored 64.21% and 1st place - ahead of the trainer! (she is an amazing rider on a lovely horse so I was quite surprised). Those are the 2 highest scores thus far in 1:4 for Layla and I. This was our 5th and 6th time showing 1:4. We also qualified for Championships.
My friend Jill came over Friday and did this "energy work" on Layla. Im a skeptic but open minded. Some of the things I saw were just... weird. I dont know how to explain it. Im very scientific in my thinking and I just cant explain it. Much less the fact that my own right eye was just leaking tears when Jill was working on Laylas right side on the "anger/resentment" and "stress/powerlessness" spots which I do have a lot of that myself with my father and then with losing my brother 11 years ago. I was told this means we are deeply connnected (me and Layla).
Also, the "stress/powerlessness" spot is on the lower back, above the flank - the exact spot where Layla has this spasming muscle issue. None of the vets/chiro/massage people have been able to cure it. Layla had a very big objection to Jill working on that area but finally had a big release. Since then, that spot is gone. Before you could just hold your hand over that area and not even touch her and her muscles would wave and quiver like a water bed. I can now palpate as HARD as I can, and she doesnt move at all. Its freaking WEIRD as she has had this issue since Ive owned her.
Anyways, Layla was just AMAZING and I am so impressed with her. While I was waiting for my last score, the judge of my last test told me that we have made so much progress (I made my 1st level debut in front of her last March). She said she loves watching me and Layla go because we are so connected to each other and Layla tries so hard for me. So that was great to hear as well.
Here are some pics - like I said this is the condensed version. I wish I could truly convey how strange it was to experience some of things I did with Layla just being... so not herself! lol
I know quite a few posters were at the show, so feel free to add in any thoughts/results of your own. *BTW desilu so nice to finally meet you!!!*
First test - I let my reins stay too long and my hands too low as always

first lengthening - trying to get a bit more

Oh and here is a pic of Layla just standing around Friday afternoon after her energy session. It was weird to come outside and see this. When I put them in the paddock behind the barn they go crazy grazing because the grass is nicer back there. Ive never seen her just chill like this and much less for as long as she did - it was over 45 mins while I was taking vid of my boarder riding that Layla just hung out like this and she didnt spaz out when Ben was inside the barn and she couldnt see him (which is very normal for her).
