I just spent like 30 mins typing out this whole post about all these strangr but good things and then poof, IE just erased my post - nothing else - just the words in the post. WTH? So this is the condensed version.

Showed 1:4 twice yesterday. Layla was not herself. Calm and relaxed in the stall. Totally easy going and not tense under saddle. We had 2 lovely flowing tests. She didnt rear in her stall. Hardly any weaving. She was just totally content.

First time out, we scored 63.684% and 2nd place - beat out by a professional (judge/trainer) as we were grouped together. Second time out, we scored 64.21% and 1st place - ahead of the trainer! (she is an amazing rider on a lovely horse so I was quite surprised). Those are the 2 highest scores thus far in 1:4 for Layla and I. This was our 5th and 6th time showing 1:4. We also qualified for Championships.

My friend Jill came over Friday and did this "energy work" on Layla. Im a skeptic but open minded. Some of the things I saw were just... weird. I dont know how to explain it. Im very scientific in my thinking and I just cant explain it. Much less the fact that my own right eye was just leaking tears when Jill was working on Laylas right side on the "anger/resentment" and "stress/powerlessness" spots which I do have a lot of that myself with my father and then with losing my brother 11 years ago. I was told this means we are deeply connnected (me and Layla).

Also, the "stress/powerlessness" spot is on the lower back, above the flank - the exact spot where Layla has this spasming muscle issue. None of the vets/chiro/massage people have been able to cure it. Layla had a very big objection to Jill working on that area but finally had a big release. Since then, that spot is gone. Before you could just hold your hand over that area and not even touch her and her muscles would wave and quiver like a water bed. I can now palpate as HARD as I can, and she doesnt move at all. Its freaking WEIRD as she has had this issue since Ive owned her.

Anyways, Layla was just AMAZING and I am so impressed with her. While I was waiting for my last score, the judge of my last test told me that we have made so much progress (I made my 1st level debut in front of her last March). She said she loves watching me and Layla go because we are so connected to each other and Layla tries so hard for me. So that was great to hear as well.

Here are some pics - like I said this is the condensed version. I wish I could truly convey how strange it was to experience some of things I did with Layla just being... so not herself! lol
I know quite a few posters were at the show, so feel free to add in any thoughts/results of your own. *BTW desilu so nice to finally meet you!!!*

First test - I let my reins stay too long and my hands too low as always

first "lengthening" - we are still working on building this

left lead lengthening - I rode this so conservatively as we have been having issues with veering off the rail and I couldnt believe we went straight today!

2nd 1:4 test - I was trying to keep my hands higher and reins shorter and it looks silly lol - but not too bad with only 3 lessons since March

first lengthening - trying to get a bit more

Oh and here is a pic of Layla just standing around Friday afternoon after her energy session. It was weird to come outside and see this. When I put them in the paddock behind the barn they go crazy grazing because the grass is nicer back there. Ive never seen her just chill like this and much less for as long as she did - it was over 45 mins while I was taking vid of my boarder riding that Layla just hung out like this and she didnt spaz out when Ben was inside the barn and she couldnt see him (which is very normal for her).

Oh and a pic of the baby horse who is getting bigger every day.

Thanks guys!

Haha cant you see how tired Layla and I are in the 2nd test mbm? I remember coming through the corner after the right lead canter lengthening, about to do our 1 loop, thinking, its almost over its almost over. It got really still and humid at 4pm in Florida and we were both cooked. I have a lovely riders tan and red face today. lol

I appreciate it and I was so happy to see she looked as good as she felt.

I enjoyed watching you and Layla yesterday. I have never seen Layla so relaxed throughout her tests! You should be on cloud 9.

Thanks everyone!

KWPN, I am so on cloud 9. I am beyond estatic with Miss Layla.

EqT, it is the strangest thing ever but I totally believe it. And how about this AM when I left for work, Layla was standing in the field next to the boys who were grazing, in that same stance, just totally chill. I called Jill immediately and was like what did you do to my horse?! lol

Interesting. Is your friend a psychic healer?

BTW you have a lovely, elegant looking mare. Very nice.

Thanks everyone.

Actually Jill just got Certified Level 1 with this energy stuff. I think it is called Integrated Energy Therapy. Our receptionist at the chiro is actually the instructor. Im sure theres a website of people who do it. I will try to get more info.

It was so nice to meet you too! It's fun to meet people in the flesh that you only "know" from the internet. If you will IM me your email address, I have some pictures for you. I was a bit disappointed because I had forgot to reset my ISO higher so they are a bit blurry. I have a lot of trouble timing a good canter shot so, keep that in mind! :D

Thanks guys!

Here is a website about the integrated energy therapy and you can learn about it and see where teachers are in your area and even take classes.

I appreciate all the comments. Layla is still in her "zen" mood and yesterday while hubby was mowing, he texted me a pic of her "meditating" in the same stance. LOL And her lower back is STILL nonreactive! yay
