View Full Version : Sadie's (My 21mo old) First Show!

Sep. 13, 2009, 10:13 PM
Well yesterday was Sadie's first horse show in leadline and prebeginner walk/halt. Sadie is 21mo old (2 in November) and LIVES to be on horseback. At home she is working on posting the walk, learning 2pt and really working on steering. At home she rides one of my lesson horses, a larger mare but for her first show my good friend Ashley lent us her WONDERFUL medium Jose! Sadie had a BALL! And of course....PICTURES!

Too adorable for words. And whomever decided to order leadline ribbons in pink and purple is a GENIUS! My daughter (4) would have had a FIT over that ribbon. Purple is so much her favorite she tried to trade her leadline blue from the last horse show she went to with a 7th place that one of my customers had gotten. Gotta love the little ones!

SO cute!!!!

And ditto on the genius that thought to do ribbons in pink and purple. I always tell the story of the leadline kid who won the class and burst into tears at receiving a red ribbon (it was in Canada) She sobbed, "But I wanted the pink one." Pink was sixth.

LOL Ashley's a genius like that! And we're really hoping to get her her own pony next year or so, she's got some wonderful ones to learn on, but other than Jose who is an hour away, they are all TALL! And it scares me to death even though they are perfect!

That's too cute! Your daughter is adorable! The picture of her holding the ribbon and shrieking is really too cute for words. :)

I have a daughter named Sadie also. She's 20 months old and LIVES to be on horseback. Every day at some point she puts on her bike helmet and rubber boots and pounds on the door and screams until we either go out to see her pony (my horses--and pony--all live at home with me) or go to the computer to look at pictures of him. I never knew that such a young kid could be such an incredible tyrant about riding!

Thats awesome! Great minds must think alike! My horses are about 10min away, but she is always out at teh farm with me. She LOVES to brush, help feed (pouring in buckets in the feed room), organize brushes by color everything. Its insane. And she has more horse books than I ever did. Sadie got a helmet and paddock boots and a present and its almost impossible to get them OFF of her!

Your daughter is precious and these pictures are great! Honestly, you'll treasure them forever. Our little girl is 11 months old and I'm dying for the day when she'll be able to do leadline. Yes, I'm that overzealous pony mom. Our son has done leadline a few times, but he's more interested in kicking dirt and nabbing chips off of the catering truck.

Adorable kid and pony. I hope you had fun!

That is amazing!!

My DD did her first lead line at 22 months and we still had to hold her on b/c she didn't have the strength to hold on by herself...I am so impressed that Sadie can ride alone!!

Then again, my little girl is such a peanut; she's in the 6 percetile for weight and height and she keeps having to ride larges. Guess I need to get her a small!!

So cute! I agree on the genius that came up with the idea of pink and purple leadline ribbons!
