So, DH decides to stop in the local tack store and get me some new riding gloves for my b'day (somehow I have 2 gloves - both for the left hand). So I get my gloves and think - hmmm, I really need a pad to fit my wide tree saddle to the not so wide (yet) eventer I have.

Obviously I have been living under a rock - as I was just looking for a regular old wither relief type pad not knowing about the new $$$ pads. The Mattes had the tag on it (so I put it back), Thinline did not. I tested 3 pads on a wide tree saddle on a form there to see which best filled the space. Of course I loved the Ultra Thinline sheepskin half pad, but still had no idea what it cost. Store owner happens to be sitting watching me and says - I'll give you the Thinline for half price.

Well - needless to say after I saw the cashier ring it up I'm really glad it was half - cause otherwise I would never get it. It wasn't till I got home and googled the pad that I realized what a GREAT pad it is. Don't know how I got so lucky - but I got it for $85 and it retails for $219 on the manufacture's site. I seem to have dumb luck with sheepskin pads, though. My first one years ago I bought at Goodwill for $10. Someone thought it was a bathmat.

Now I can't wait to ride with it!

Happy birthday! And you do have good luck with sheepskin pads!!

I managed to pick up a new ultra thinline pad last weekend for $39. No sheepskin, no frills. Just the pad, but I was still a very, very happy camper.
