I have retired horse who lives out and he lost some weight in July and wasn't looking very good. He is normally on grass only 24X7, but when he started loosing the weight I did a 5 day power pack, started graining him once a day and giving him some electrolytes. This was about mid-August.

Its helped a lot. He looks much better and put most of the weight back on easily.

My question is ...After doing a power pack when do you go back to your normal wormig cycle? I gave him the power pack, off cycle. Meaning a few weeks earlier than my normal rotation.

Thanks for the guidance.

6 weeks.

It's sometimes vet-recommended to use a 1.5x dose of anthelcide 2 weeks post-Power Pack to clean up some issues that are, IIRC, "caused" by the PP. I cannot recall the details, but I think it may have something to do with the PP getting rid of the encysted colony, making way for a smaller colony of a different parasite to "wake up".

If you do that, then wait 6 weeks after that before using anything else. That would be a good time to do something for tapeworms if you haven't used praziquantel (Quest Plus, Zimecterin Gold, Equimax) or a double dose of pyrantel pamoate (ie Strongid paste) in the last 6 months. *I* would go with Equimax - get bots (don't know where you are, but in another 6-8 weeks you might be post-first-freeze) and tapes as well as just about everything else.
