Way back in the day this seemed to be a standard treatment, does anyone still use it? Can it still be gotten? I have a gelding with an old scar on a back pastern, sometimes a little swollen, sometimes not. I have used straight dmso, wondering about the furacin.

I had to have a mixture of DMSO, Furacin, Dex, and Ivermectin for my geldings summer sore so I would imagine it is available.

Yep. Have used it to sweat a leg and also as a wrap on a dirty heel cut. Not hard to get either DMSO or furacin.

I use it as a leg sweat.

Go to the Rood & Riddle pharmacy, they have many Furacin-based sweats. Osmotic sweat is furacin, DMSO, wintergreen (smells minty fresh!) and epsom salts-- it's good for cellulitis-type swellings, and excellent for feet (I esp like it for abscess after-care, or bruised heels). Furad is furacin, DMSO, and dexamethazone; good for any leg swellings. Faso is furacin, scarlet oil, and dexamethazone; I love this one for scratches, wounds or other skin problems.
