I admit, I loved the BUY ONE GET ONE FREE deal and brought home 4 bags tonight. But, I also admit that I didn't do my homework as I should have first.

I bought the Cool and Lite for my easy keeper. I have her on platnium performance..so basically, she needs very little grain. Currrently on PP plus a cup of oats, timothy pellets, rice bran and beet pulp

And I bought Fibergized Omega for my older TB (Currently on Blue Seal Performance LS)

A friend of mine had given me a Pennfield Fibergized Omega sample at the barn and my horses loved it....so, I thought I'd take advantage of the BOGO sale.

Well....here's my concern. I couldn't find the NSC anywhere online...so I called the company tonight, they put in touch with a rep...very nice, informatiive.

NSC in the FO is 24 percent and the NSC in the CL is 32 percent. I have to say that I panicked...she told me that because it is a condensed high fat, low starch feed that it isn't as bad as it sounds.

I would love some insight from anyone who is currently feeding either of these two feeds.

hmm well I don't know how relevent my response is- but I think this offer is pretty cool too!

Your post spurred me to read more on NSC because I didnt know too much about it at all. I guess you do, but I found this article particularly helpful, especially the list at the end

buuuut. Fibregized (non omega) has TONS of molasses. We picked up a bag of enduroevent at the feed store today for the buy one get one free, it was the only type of pennfield they had. On the way home, the smell of molasses permeated the whole care!
This feed looked similar to fibregized, with the beet pulp shreds and the darker pellets and such.

The high NSC of C&L is why I don't feed this - I feed Triple Crown Lite to my easy keepers. But I do feed Fibregized Omega to my hard keeper and I'm very happy with it.

And I must disagree with starkissed as it has "tons" of molasses; the dark, sticky consistency is because of the considerable amount of oil in it. There is molasses in it, but it's minimal.
