I'm blanket shopping while the deals are still to be had.
Because the little guy gets cold easily, I want a decent turnout that will keep rain off, him warm, be slightly indestructible, but won't break the bank.
Asking too much? Recommendations?

What's your budget?
When my boy was a weanling I happened to have a Rhino turnout that was great for him. I really like Rhinos and have a few that will be 11 this year and they're still going strong!
I'd probably buy a Rider's turnout (Dover) if I was shopping for him today. In my experience they're pretty tough and a very good value.

Schneiders. If he is out of the foal sizes with the velcro chest, then the Schneider's allow for some adjustment. Trust me, you will need it. My filly almost swam in her homemade blanket when I made it for her in November, but by February she had almost grown out of it. Thankfully our blanket season is very short-lived down here, so the one blanket got her thru.
Just for reference, my filly grew about 5" in blanket size during that time. Her momma is a touch long in the back, so I guess she comes by it honestly.

I like the Weatherbeeta's best for the foals/yearlings. The do move up a few sizes during the winter since they are growing quickly. I don't like the Amigo's. You want one that has lots of adjustment in the front, not just one hook like the Amigos. They are small enough that you can wash them a few times in your own washer over the winter to keep them nice. I had 2 foals last winter and one was a size bigger than the other so that helped. I probably had 4 to 6 medium weights for the two to wear all winter. The turnouts are clean and ready for the next 2 hopefully in 2011.
