Ok, I have 2 hard plastic feed tubs bought at the same time (20+ yrs ago). Usual cleaning amounts to a rinse every day with excess drinking water and allowed to air dry. At least once/week I use a mix of dish detergent(Dawn or Joy), bleach and Iron Out. One tub cleans up fine. The other tub has a tacky, sticky residue.

Both horses get basically the same meal of soaked beet pulp(one meal)/soaked timothy cubes(one meal) and oats and Safe Choice pellets (previous Kwik pellets). The horse with the sticky tub does get some corn oil as well. I've thought this was why the tub remained sticky.

I've just brought said sticky tub into the house and used a Brillo pad, Soft Scrub cleanser with Bleach and 409 cleaner on it. I've scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed and still the tub has a tacky feel to it as well as a whitish film. I've rinsed and rinsed and rinsed.

Anyone have any other products that they would recommend for cleaning. The horse with the tacky tub does clean up quite well so if there is any sort of residue left, it doesn't seem to affect his eating.

Yeah, it's the oil that leaves the residue.

I highly recommend Quick-N-Brite (http://www.quicknbrite.com/about/) and one of those Chore-Boy scrubbie pad thingies. Since it's icky, use the Quick N Brite full strength right from the tub with hot water.

It is highly concentrated, doesn't stink or burn your hands/eyes, is biodegradeable and doesn't foam up. Only product that I have ever found that does what the label says: Cleans everything except rust. ;)

P.S. Switch to Cool Calories instead of the oil... no more sticky residue. And it smells like Fruity Pebbles! :D

Simple Green cuts grease & oil. It's also enviromentally friendly and non toxic.

I think I've seen Simple Green in the stores so I'll give that a try first. Thanks for the help. :)
