This one's a critical view on three vastly different attempts at the 1995 Washington International Horse Show's Gambler's Choice.

Featured are:
SINGAPUR - Stefan Lauber (final score: 350)
BINARY BIT - Jennifer Foster (final score: 260)
MISTRAL - Ian Millar (final score: 1120)

...see if you can count the number of times that Binary Bit "saves" his rider.
Hint: it's way more than two!

Also, to allay any concerns of bias, it should be noted that each exhibitor featured is a thoroughly experienced rider, mounted atop a relatively inexperienced horse.

No prob.

Actually, that reminded me, I also have one of Peter Pletcher in this class as well... which is the only time I've ever seen him in jumpers.

That horse was fabulous. I was working as an asst trainer/barn manager for a San Antonio barn and remember watching this horse go in some of the local GPs :) Peter could make the GP round look like a working hunter round....beautiful :D

I just love watching Ian Millar ride.
Indeed, it's like watching poetry-in-motion.

He wants to go for the Olympic record in London-- if he makes the 2012 Canadian team, he'll have competed in more Olympic games than any athlete in any sport in world history!

He is the picture of riding at speed....I don't think anyone does it better, so consistently.

When I used to do Gambler's with my eventing mare (who also had a good little local jumper career-made me beer money in college), the liverpool was always the ''gamble".

Go OVER water, not THROUGH the water today, please :D
