If you could pick an area with in a reasonable commute of Franklin Park, IL. Where would you choose? What barns are in the area? I am currently horseless but plan on getting a baby to eventually do the Adults. I showed locally on a pretty competivite circuit and some A shows. I would want a barn that does a good mix of A shows and local.

Any suggestions?

Hmmm, not sure. I live in the far west 'burbs and always have. However, there are a lot of h/j barns in the Chicago area and I am sure you can find something that suits you.

There are the really BNT barns...

Helmut Schrant's place (Hampshire)
Steve Schaefer's Grove Place Farm (Maple Park)
The Vanderveen family's Bull Run Farm (Elburn)
Alex Jayne & co.'s Our Day Farm (Elgin)
Greg Franklin's Canterbury Farm (Hampshire)--Diane Carney's barn is there too
Kappler's in Barrington

And there are more local BNT barns that aren't as "big"......

Judgement Farms (Naperville & Oswego)
Dunham Woods Farm (Wayne)
Perfecta Farm (Elgin)
Freedom Woods (Morton Grove)
Daybreak Farm (Libertyville)
Entropy (Woodstock)
Old Burlington (St. Charles/Burlington)
St. Charles Farm (St. Charles)
Indian Hills Farm (Gilberts)
Fields & Fences (Gurnee)

Personally, if I were you, I would go to www.showplaceproductions.com, look at the competition results and see what barns/trainers are winning in your divisions, and make some calls.

Second, I would visit the local forum (www.illinoishorse.com, click on The Board) and ask around over there.

Good luck!

I think Brookwood should be added to the BNT list...They are in Antioch... If you are looking for places that do Local/smaller A's the second list that LuvmyTB posted is pretty spot on... there are also more farms straight north of the city... Sunflower which is just across the border, Hidden Knoll, Happenstance, Millcreek...
