The stickiest saddle I've sat in has been a devoucoux - not sure of the leather type though. It was difficult to get out of the saddle to post.

Devoucouxs are amazing, I have a calfskin chiberta. It was probably buffalo... they are seriously sticky! Buffalo = stick!

What about saddles with suede seats? I have never seen one, but saw a used Stubben VSS for sale and am thinking about trying it.

Either Buffalo or Elk are pretty sticky. My only caution with suede is that it tends to wear faster...

Buffalo hands down. It also wears really well.

The calf leather from CWD, Devoucoux and Antares are all good for grip but the buffalo is a sturdier leather and holds up through more hours of riding.
My saddle has had some years of everyday use with many horses to ride and I have had to replace the flaps, but that cost was minimal compared to buying a new saddle.

I sat in a buffalo leather dressage saddle once. A demo saddle at the Equine Affaire, the rep said, "Now try to slide to either side." Impossible. Pretty darned grippy stuff! Have also heard the buffalo leather wears like iron too.

Does that grip change over time or does it stay like that? Any ideas where a person could get a swatch of either buffalo leather or Elk (or add your own favorite here)?

Your buffalo or calf leather will sustain it's grip as long as you use the cream dressing that is provided. My saddle gets a lot of use and he only time I feel a bit if slip is when it is dry and needs some conditioner.
If you do decide to buy a custom saddle the representatives will have many styles and leathers for you to select from. Test riding saddles will allow you to customize a saddle to your specifications. ;)

Good conditioner will make most saddles stick to you. Try the Akene stuff. Expensive, but works!
If youhave a hard time getting a good grip and don't show in the hunters I'd give the tretorn boots a go. They didn't catch on over here and are selling at horsemens outlet for $200.
I've never ridden in a boot that gave me the same security (and I jump in the bigger levels 5+) I ordered a pair from europe before they started selling here, they are a little short (terrible look) but I couldn't be bothered sending them back for a new pair.
I have a fancy looking (although not custom) pair of regular tall boots for the hunters but I'll much rather wear my tretorns for jumperclasses so I'm shopping around for a second pair!
It could be a good investment if grip is all you are after!
