Hi - I need some suggestions on how to find a place to rent for next winter in Aiken. I checked out a lot of sites and ads, but I dont seem to find what I really need: an 8 stall barn with decent turnout, hopefully a place for a rider and groom. I dont want to be near all the polo fields or in the race track area. More towards all the eventer areas. I'm willing to share a barn with someone or get stalls in a barn.
Any recommendations on where to look, who to call, etc??
Thanks!

Contact Lara Anderson who owns Full Gallop farm... You can go directly through her website: www.fullgallopfarm.com
Lara is a realtor, as well and always knows of people looking to rent. She has stalls available at her barn through the winter for people coming down, as well.
I keep a couple stalls open for folks and a room available at my house. So far I've only had friends come up from FL for events, but even that saves a ton rather than paying stabling.
Best of luck to you! I'd be happy to give you any info you need.

I know there are places that meet your criteria listed on all the places already suggested. Even with the economy, they are still booking fast, so call ASAP.:)

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I am also looking for space in Aiken for March 2010. Two people, 2 or 3 horses, 1 very well behaved small terrier. We are a mother and son team, very experienced eventers and foxhunters ( ex-MFH ) and are extremely willing and able to work/help out with anything ! Will consider all options, and would be very happy to share a facility with other snowbirds.
Any ideas/ suggestions would be most appreciated !

Last winter I was a working student at Pine Ridge Stables. Contact Brenda at (803) 652-6113. The farm has a couple barns they rent out (10 stall) and (6 stall) with great turnouts. There is a dressage arena with mirrors, Jumping arena, regular arena and exercise track through the woods. The farm is about 25 min from the farms on Wagener road but it is MUCH warmer! There are protective trees around the farm that protect you from the winds that can whip across those open fields on Wagener. Let me know if you need a working student. I loved it there.

Also, I am looking too for possibly 2-3 weeks for Aiken area , home with 2-3 bedrooms and pasture with a run in shed would be more than enough for 2 horses, a small modest barn just to store hay etc would be ideal.
If you know of something please feel free to contact me at kelly.poland@td.com
