So as I was going through the Racing Post the other day, the had a great article on this studfarm: http://www.gestuet-etzean.de/
When I tried to pull it up online it was nowhere to be found. It was in a preview section of the BBAG yearling auction.
Anyway, I found it interesting because the picture was of Dashing Blade and "his girlfriend". Apparently, all the stallions at this stud farm get to have a personal girlfriend every year - a pregnant mare for company. I thought, isn't that a great idea and I bet they have very happy stallions too!

That is cool--
There is a russain warmblood stud farm that is using xx stallions --see these old blood lines--pretty amazing I think (I think one fellow must have passed but was used in the program.)
Pagar (direct sire line to dark ronald) http://www.pedigreequery.com/pagar
Rumb (direct sire line to Tourbillon) http://www.pedigreequery.com/rumb2
Elkrush (direct sire line to war relic/manowar) http://www.pedigreequery.com/elkush
It is Starozhilovo Stud (caution as a virus warning sign pops up on the web site so be careful-I have not had any trouble--yet...)
(Here also is a page from a russian regions warmblood stud book --with a few more "old" pedigreed xx s - http://www.trk-base.com/shows.php?showid=95 )
However, I suspect the sprinter lines are already otherwise encrouching even in Russia....

I've noticed that a good many of the more recent TBs used in WB breeding come from places off the major interstates like the Czech Republic (Heraldik and Royalik) and Poland and such. The preservation of the older lines might be why.

I found this one. Can anyone tell me if this is German, Austrian or what? Or any info on it, I can't read it.
The stallion is the dam sire of one of my youngsters.

Sorry, not meaning to hijack the thread.
edited to say: I googled it, it is in Germany. So he must have been exported.

Very interesting thread!
I love to hear about cases where stallion owners find a way to turn stallions out with another horse.

Rumb is standing in Poland. His sire is the damsire of Elkush. Nice looking, very solid horses.
Raufbold is famous for having been taken by the Russians as spoils of war. I think he was used in their Trakehner breeding as well as their TB breeding. He really was one of the greats.
