I did a quick search but didn't come up with much, though I'm sure this topic has been discussed on here lots of times...

So...building a loafing shed this fall. What ground prep do we do before putting the building up? What materials do we use for the footing? I called around this morning and have heard a lot of opinions from rock companies, but I don't know how "horsey" they actually are, even though they all seem to think they are.

Help me out, O wise COTHers!

Well, I've heard a lot of different ideas from another forum..

1. Railroad ties with a 1-2" gap where you drop in pea gravel, then pea gravel on top (or dirt, or mats, whatever you want)
2. Base of large rock, then small, topped with whatever you want
3. Same as 2, but put in drain tile
4. Leave as is and put 2-3" of pea gravel on top.

If I were to do mine over again.. I think I would go with #1.
