I just discovered this guy - seems his first season was last year. Does anyone have any info on him? He's WAY cute!

Sadly, it seems only live cover, in Canada *waahhhhhh*

He has been around for LONG time as he is 22yrs old (might have something to do with the LC reason as well) if it is the same Fuhler we are talking about. I don't know if he was hugely promoted by his past owners but I believe he has possibly changed hands in the last year or two as my friend was looking at possibly acquiring him. He "may" be approved CSHA but not sure he has any others. He is a cute boy though!

Oh wow, I had no idea! I saw "standing to limited mares in '08" and "recently imported" and assumed (hehe) that meant he was new.

He is 22 yrs old and was 4th in an eventing championships this year?! That seems a bit odd, and in the pics he LOOKS awfully young! And awfully cute, what a NICE looking jumper!!!

Yep, he is 22 years old. He stood in the Ottawa area for years. His new owner seems to be really having a blast with him.

Samber has some old sons, but all are good. (I have a grandson, by Smaaragd Color and jumping ability.)

Never heard of this guy though, but he looks very nice. Remember, Samber did more than dressage, he jumped also. Love those old youtube videos of him at 32 yoa.

His new owner called me last year, interested in one of my mares to breed to him. She does sound like she is having a great time with him.

I know! That's just amazing! Of course, these days 22 isn't the "old" that it was even 20 years ago. But still! I wonder when the pics on his site were taken?

Oh you dawg! If you do, pretty please convince her to start the frozen route :D Of course, since Samber didn't freeze well, from what I understand, maybe he doesn't either :( Dangit.

well, kind of ... maybe... I tend to think this is more official but even here "walsdame" is not pedigreed. http://www.paardenfokken.nl/pedigree.php?horseid=185870

Rhyadawn, since my internet investigations have still failed to turn up more pedigree info on "Weltsdame" could you ask if they know the pedigree of his great-granddam? I am insatiably curious ;)

The pictures on the site were taken within the last 2 seasons.

I don't know what Geslacht = merrie or Stamboek = Sgledt means.

However, that is apparently the Ivory, produced by Abgar XX and Walsdame, who is Fuhler's dam's dam.

Ok, found that merrie is Dutch for mare/filly. I know Stamboek is the studbook, but as Sgledt is an abbreviation, can't find a translation for that. It's obviously not KWPN, so is it the Harness book? If that's the case, having a Friesian sire would make perfect sense :)

I know someone who has a Fuhler offspring - she's quite nice, very athletic young mare. And she just had her first colt this Spring, and he's really, really nice! I didn't realize he had FRIESIAN in him though - but IF the pedigree is correct, Tsjalling is definately a Friesian stallion. Interesting. I don't always believe everything I see on ABP though, I've seen a few horses listed with inaccurate pedigree information, and have even had people go in and change pedigree information on my own horses:confused:

Yeah, ABP isn't gospel, but I did find that same lineage on the paardenfokken site, so think it's probably pretty accurate at least in that section.

It would be totally plausible that a Friesian x KWPN would be put into the Harness book. I don't know though - I've found that a Harness horse has to be at least 25% Dutch, which fits here. But I haven't found what the other 75% can contain.

Do you happen to have pics of your friend's Fuhler dtr and her foal? Who is the foal by?

Hi JB, the colt is by her Friesian stallion (how ironic is that, back to the Friesian blood). Since she doesn't post on this forum, I don't feel comfortable putting her website out for critique;) I've seen video of the colt, and he has a really NICE canter! She is in Canada - I think Fuhler is better known there than here in the "States".

Would it be possible to PM the website to me? I'm not looking to critique, just wanna see something by a Fuhler dtr :)

Ohhhh, you know what, I ran across a picture of a Fuhler dtr with a black foal by her side, by a Friesian stallion. Wonder if that's them?

SGLDT means the old Gelderlander type.

Ahhh, thanks! I think I started to pick that up after doing more searching around.

What it comes down to is that yes, I do think it's real that the Friesian was in the pedigree, and that cross pretty much had to be a Harness book horse.

I THINK I also understand that the other 75% of the Dutch Harness Horse can be, really, anything, as long as the horse fits the type they are looking for.

I have a Fuhler baby. He's 6 now, 17H, a big guy that looks just like his dad. And jumps like him too, nice and square and picks his toes up to his nose! He was a stallion until he was 4, and is still the most mellow horse in the world, wonderful to work with and very lovey. This was our first year showing and we've dabbled in a bit of everything from hunters to dressage to eventing. If you want to see any pics or videos let me know and I can send them along :)

Oh my, he's darling! I totally like him as a Hunter (which is my love), and it's fun to see his different movement when posing as a Dressage horse :) It's such a shame Fuhler isn't available here :(

Have fun with him! He looks like a LOT of fun to ride :)
