I will take any advice I can get. I have shown forever but this will be my first breed show and I'm taking a yearling. I have no idea what I was thinking!! It should be interesting. I did not realize this is the championship weekend and I see everyone talking about 3 qualifying scores does that mean you needed 3 to compete in the championships class? I thought you just had to get a 1st or 2nd? I am poor after paying all of the fees so I think I will run her myself am I crazy for trying? She can be a diva so I don't know if she would be worse for someone else or not. I'm hoping the shock factor might help! I haven't had her out since her inspection. I'm hoping it will be a good experience but if anyone has some helpful pointers I would gladly take them. Is anyone on here going? Hopefully I won't embarrass myself too bad.

The 3 scores being mentioned are to qualify for Horse of the Year awards. If your youngster qualifies for the championships on either Saturday or Sunday of the SSHA show, she will be in the Championship class on Sunday.

I highly recommend hiring a handler. That can make a huge difference in how a youngster does. Also, be sure to sign as a handler so that you can go into the ring during any championship class to handle until it is time for your handler to run her.

I'll be there with a 5 year old mare who is doing inhand and materiale and a three year old filly who is just doing materiale.

Will the handler's run for anyone? Do I just have to find somebody and ask or do they have to know you? I do not know any handlers that are going to be there do you have anyone you recommend? Do they charge per class? I was wondering how they did that if they had more than one horse. So I would just hold her until it was her turn and then they would take her?

Thanks for the info

I believe there will be three handlers there — Sterling Graburn, Andras Szieberth and Dean Graham. I use Sterling and can recommend him very highly.

You can ask in the office when you get there and get in touch with handlers then. You don't need to know them ahead of time. They will charge by the class. You will hold your horse until it is time to show it.

I have used Dean Graham several different times and I would recommend him very highly also. PM me if you would like his phone number or email address.

I have used Dean, Sterling and Andras. You can't go wrong with any of them! They are all top quality handlers (and horsemen) and great to work with!!
