What do you think? Do you think he has a little too much knee? What if he's bred to a mare that has no knee action but needs a little more reach in her trot? Would you think Balou would be a good choice? Any info./input on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Oops...I almost forgot. The mare is a maiden mare so would you say that Balou's frozen is okay in this situation?

Regarding maidens and frozen generally - I have had outstanding success rates (1 dose / 1 cycle) with maidens, and my vet actually prefers them as he finds there is less likelihood that maidens will have issues. You need a vet that is good with frozen.

speaking of maidens and tally and frozen.......
My baby is out of a maiden 13 year old mare who took the first time to Corlando's frozen.

I've had success with Balou frozen, two pregnancies on 2 first-try inseminations.

I have had success with Balou's frozen a few times. I bred my Popeye K mare to him 2 years ago and I was very happy with the huntery colt we got from the cross.... Here is his link to some of his pictures http://good-times.webshots.com/album/563213743sKewNT?vhost=good-times
I just bred my maiden Corland mare to him this year and she caught using only one dose...she actually twinned on it.
We bred another mares at work to Balou this year with frozen and she also got in foal with one dose. His frozen was about 40%-50% post thaw motility on the doses that I used.

My mare, as a maiden, took to Balou frozen first shot. Tried again the next year with no luck and ended up going fresh cooled.

I have a Balou stallion who is 4 this year, and I would not hestitate one second to send him in the hunter ring. He has a very powerful trot with very minimal knee action. The thing Balou seems to throw with consistency is JUMP! At his stallion inspection, Amazing received a 9 for his free jump technique. He jumps with his knees to his ears EVERY time! I am a huge fan of Balou on the right mare...
here are some videos of him...

Here's a video of our yearling Balou filly, Bada Bling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzyMJ4gelTs
She's almost 3 inches butt high at the moment and trying to figure out where to put those legs of hers. I bred for an all around athlete and she's definitely all that I was hoping for. She is in the AHS Jumper Breeding Program as well. She probably has too much knee action for the hunter ring but will be perfect for me in the dressage arena. ;-) Mare caught on 1 dose and we bred her back again this year (1 dose) for a 2010 baby.
