Kraque Boom, ridden by Kevin Staut, won the European show jumping championships in the UK. A son of the American-based Selle Francais stallion, Olisco, he is out of the French mare Baby Boom IV by Joyau d’Or (a son of Alme). Bred by Henriette Evain (France).
Goes to show that we have had great performance bloodlines available here. Congratulations to Newsprint Farm on this outstanding son of Olisco.

HOLY SMOKES! This is great news.
I can now brag to anyone that will hold still for 20 seconds, that I have two youngsters that have the same bloodlines as the new European Champion!!! Woot! Woot! Woot!
OK, I am kidding, but seriously, this is wonderful news. I seem to recall a thread some years ago where a certain well known dressage rider said that the US wouldn't be able to catch up with the quality in Europe for over 100 years ... of course, my memory could be playing tricks on me (always a possibility) and it could have been 20 years...but I don't think so.
Now, granted, this is a different discipline, but the concept is the same. I'm delighted that the US can compete with the best. Oh, and I almost forgot. Danny Magill of Newsprint Farm ... wonderful, exceptional lady, with knowledge and really extraordinary stallions. It couldn't happen to a nicer lady ...!!! Well done, Danny!

I don't get your rationale Oldenburg Mom! Olisco is French-bred but living in the US, and the new European Champion Showjumper was bred in France by a French person. Sounds to me like there is nothing North American about his breeding!
So how does that factor in to the US finaling producing the goods? Are you thinking its because someone had the foresight to buy Olisco? I'm just curious :)

Janeway,
First of all, sadly, Olisco is no longer with us ... he died some years ago.
The point the OP was trying to make—I believe—which I agree with BTW, is that there are wonderful bloodlines here in the US, that are producing successful *performance* horses. With all the choices in Europe, the individual that bred this horse, chose a horse that resided here.
IMHO, it's a plus for us. It's nice to know we have such outstanding sires here, available to us. As far as the foresight ... heck yes. Since Danny had the perspicacity, yes, she should get the credit. Just like High Point Hanoverians had the perspicacity to buy Sinatra Song. It's just not that easy to do!
Anyway, I'm just tickled pink about my two babies!!!! I know it really not that important, but it makes my day!!!
