Hello everyone,

This weekend was the first Midwest Connemara Pony Breeders Show. Over 50 Connemara Ponies attended and it was a great day of jumping, dressage and in-hand. I will post the full results (for In-hand at least :) I was didn't get a chance to glance at the Performance Ring except to note that the All Around Connemara Performance Champion was won by the German Imported Connemara Pony *Kinzighausen Golden Mortimer)

I have to brag a little on the success of the progeny sired by *The Quietman

Winners of the Get of Sire Class: Windy Isles Quiet Lady (x *Cree Lady by Forest View Sparrow) and Windy Isles Silver Cloud (x *Summer Sun by Ashfield Jovial Joker)
1st & 2nd in the Yearling Class: 1st Blue Rock Riley (yearling colt x *Laurin of Rosscon by Rosenaharley Laughris) 2nd Windy Isles Island Rebel (x (*Catherine's Pride by Gurteen Paddy)
1st & 2nd in the Foals Class: 1st Windy Isles Martin's Pride (x *Catherine's Pride by Gurteen Paddy) 2nd Sooey Annabelle (x *Kilmurray Aisling Owen by Glanns Owen)

Reserve Junior Champion: Blue Rock Riley (x *Laurin of Rosscon by Rosenaharley Laughris)

*The Quietman was 3rd in the Stallion Class
1st: Elmshoots Krispin O'Thule (*Gunsmoke x Ridgetop Thule Mist by Aladdins Denver)
2nd: Blue Ridge Jefferson (Moxley Duncan x Hayselden Persephone by Hayselden Bacchus)
3rd: *The Quietman (Moy Hazy Cove x Blathin Chonamara by Cloonisle Cashel)
4th (his son!) Windy Isles Silver Cloud ( x *Summer Sun by Ashfield Jovial Joker)

Also have to be proud at the great showing of our 2yr orphan filly Windy Isles Quiet Lady at her very first ever show. She was a VERY respectable 4th in a VERY strong 2 &3yr mares class in which she was the only 2yr. She behaved wonderfully, trotted out well and did all that was asked of her. Fell asleep on my shoulder halfway through her class. I couldn't have been more proud.

More highlights:

Junior Champion: *Murvey Inver Lor (Currachmore Cashel x Murvey Cara by Boden Park Finnard)

Supreme Champion: Blue Ridge Fionuala (Moxley Duncan x Tre Awain Hobbie Grey by Hisega Meadows Erin Bobby)

Reserve Supreme Champion: *Murvey Inver Lor (Currachmore Cashel x Murvey Cara by Boden Park Finnard) *Murvey Inver Lor is 9 generations of her owner John Keaney's family's breeding and is in foal to Wildwych Eclipse* for next year :)

We had a GREAT night of Irish entertainment, music and dancing with performances by World Champion Irish Dancers. Over 500 people approximately attended the show some coming as far away as Ireland :)

It was a great show and we hope to be back bigger (and better!) next year.

Outstanding Report, thank you so much for sharing it with us. I really enjoyed the photos and breeding of the ponies. You have a very exciting and unique cluster of Connemara Ponies in your region. SO glad you were able to host such a remarkable showcase venue for them. Considering the decline of Connemara Breeding in this country...(less than 80 purebreds born this year.. if I remember right) its fabulous to see large, active and diverse group taking shape!

Thank you :) We are really lucky to have the group of ponies (and farms! and breeders!) in the area that we do. The quality of ponies at this show was the highest I've seen yet in the country and everyone seemed to have a good time :)

J,

I am so glad you had such a fabulous turnout! Wish we could have made it over... and would love to come in the future. Do you hope to hold it the same weekend next year? ( So we can start planning... last weekend in August is rough for us... school starts and our county fair..... but would like to make it happen if we could!)

We're hoping to have it again next year. And will probably change the date (late July perhaps... Still up in the air as it needs to be discussed)
