Trailer brakes won't turn off

Help. :( Just last week something started wigging out on my 16' GN horse trailer brakes. The brakes do not release when I take my foot off the brake pedal. I've adjusted the brake controller and with my foot on the brake and the light "orange", the light remains on when I take my foot off. If I make the light "green" there are no problems....but I have no brakes.

The controller is level. Can anyone offer any trouble shooting tips or is the information provided enough to know this needs a pro right off the bat??

Had the same thing happen last winter. The brake controller was fried, and had to be replaced. :no:

Had the same problem, and it was the brake box. Got a new controller and poof problem solved.
Of course by the time I did that, I needed new trailer brakes so don't wait too long.

1. If your brake lights on the truck stay on, it's the brake light switch. The brake controller gets its control signal from this switch.

2. The trailer connector is shorted to the brake wire.

3. The brake controler has failed.
