I haven't had Juice long so I'm still getting to know him. He has impeccable ground manners and always stands quietly to be brushed and tacked up. However... he had a spot on his left rump that he does NOT like touched.
He's always been weird about this spot and will actually raise his left leg as a warning not to keep touching it. I don't tolerate this and yesterday after I lightly brushed it he kicked out at me.
After a reprimand I went over the spot with my hands to see if there was anything there or if he was sensitive to me pressing on it. He wasn't.
He's never been off or ouchy in his hind legs (or front legs for that matter). So I don't think i'll have a vet out for a fishing expedition...

My big mare does not like her ears messed with at all. I can halter and bridle her, and I can put her little fly bonnet on to keep the gnats from bothering her while I ride, but that's pretty much her limit. Of course, this could be from past poor handling too. She freaks out when she even sees a whip.
My gelding HATES having his hind legs touched, but only the front, above the hock, and to the inside up to his sheath. Even hosing him there makes him all jumpy. I can finally fly spray him most of the time, and sometimes he will cooperate for ointment to keep the flies away, but he really dislikes it.
The filly could care less where you touch her, as long as you are touching her. She's a pest.

Everybody's got a tickle spot. You just have to find it.
My mare is a little different. She's tickly, but she just wants her itchy spots scratched. She will turn herself inside out to get you to scratch her. My non-horsey brother was in town recently, and I showed him the "Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" trick. I tickled her behind her withers and she gave him a back rub with her nose.
She's not too happy about the spot between belly button and udder, though. I haven't actually been able to clean her girly bits yet because she told me in no uncertain terms she would squash me like a bug. So I guess that's her tickle spot.

Well I think of tickle as a good thing and my baby horses whole body is a tickle spot. Every.single.place. that I can brush/curry/scratch he leans and curls his lips and gets that glazed eye look.
My mare likes along her neck, and esp down the ridge of the shoulder, on either side of her withers, and right above her flank in the kidney area (just have to be careful to not be too heavy handed there).
Now my mare used to not let you mess with her ears, face, belly, and teats but now I can touch anything and shes totally fine with it.
