"Kur" question

Does anyone know what exactly the meaning/origin of the word "Kur" is? I know there's an umlaut over the u, just can't figure out how to make this keyboard do it.

Odd question, I know--somebody asked me and I had no idea, am hoping the power of COTH does :)

According to an online dictionary, it means free exercise, or free skate.

On my keyboard, I make an umlaut by hitting the option key, the letter u, then the letter that gets the umlaut.
