Anyone know any very reputable breeders with pups available now or soon?
Must be a reputable breeder with health /hips/eyes assurances. East coast NA preferably but not necessarilly. This is for an experienced Aussie owner with high quality farm life for dogs.

Contact Leigh at Longshadow Aussies. She is in Seattle - but is a terrific breeder. I know she has 1 blue female left from her june litter just now 9 weeks old. Very good breeder and she is a horse person as well. I bought my now 2yo red merle male from her- and he is da bomb!

Chris (above) has some of the best Aussies anywhere. Lots of working titles (SUPREME WORKING CH!!! TITLES) as well as Hall of FAME titles. They don't get any higher. She also puts Conformation titles on her dogs. She is a judge and teaches herding.
Email her, she might know of some great dogs. She is very connected.
She also has a links page
http://flyawayaussies.bravepages.com/links.htm
It lists a whole bunch of breeder websites, if they are on her list, you know they will be reputable!

Try Norma Hart of Hart II Aussies in North Texas! She has A-M-A-Z-I-N-G working dogs!!!! We have 2 of her dogs that the SO uses for working cattle and other ranch dog duties.
She knows bloodlines like no one I have ever met! She can look at a dog of hers and tell you about 20 years of bloodlines.
Here is her website: http://www.hartsaussiestockdogs.com/

I've always purchased from the people who started it all, the Hartnagles.
www.lasrocosa.com (http://www.lasrocosa.com) Las Rocosa Australian Shepherds. They also wrote the books, "All About Aussies" and "The Australian Shepherd."
I've been buying from them for decades. Their dogs are great, no eye issues, no hip issues. You can see them at shows, on the bench and herding cows/ducks/sheep.

I agree with this. The breeder I got my aussie from used the Las Rocasa lines heavily in her breeding program. Great dogs. My aussie is 12 this year and other than some age related issues, he's been super healthy and a great barn dog.

Have you thought about Aussie rescue? I worked with the group in the North East and found them to be an easy rescue group to work with. Got a very nice 3 year old that just needed some manners put on him.

Thanks very much for all your suggestions. We are looking at them all and have some possibilities. We did look at rescues but did not find a match.
We'd also be open to crosses (not necessarilly registered) but main concern is health and temperament which is why the focus on reputable breeders.
If you have any more suggestions, please keep them coming.

Please check the giveaway forum for a post that should appear shortly for an adult aussie in NJ. They think he is an aussie blue heeler, I think he looks like a aussie cattle dog but either way he is a lovely dog that needs a home asap. Thanks! Well the giveaway post isn't up yet so here is an appetizer to hold you over!

So in your opinion is this a aussie blue heeler, or an aussie cattle dog? I don't have much experience with any dogs of that type but am still voting cattle dog.

He looks like what I call a Austrialian Cattle Dog or ACD, but many people also call them Heelers - Blue or red. I think it's all the same thing. . . ?

he's cute, but australian cattle dogs have a different temperment than do australian shepherds. 2 very different temperments within the herding group
Hope he finds a good home, the cattle dogs are very good herders.

Actually it is good. More people will look at him as there are more Aussie people around. The herding group is full of good herders.
