Another question for ya'll:

Building a new arena that we'll plant a tall hedge around to help corral dust and look nice. This arena will also be used for some turnout.

Thinking of installing a V-mesh wire fence about 1' (we don't have much room!) outside the arena fence and planting vines on it. If I put a hot wire on the outside of the top rail of the arena fence, will that dissuade loose horses from reaching over to eat the vines on the vmesh fence? Or will they just figure to reach through? Add more lines of hot wire?

Ideas?

Thanks!

If it's a plant you want to nurture, they'll eat it; if it's something you don't care about, they'll leave it alone

Make it physically inaccessible. Otherwise it will be consumed.

Don't want a horse to munch on something, simple, don't put that or the horse where they can interact.;)
Could you use something else than greenery for a barrier, like some kind of pretty garden/snowfence mesh?

Plant something thorny. :D

Just make sure what ever you plant is not toxic. No yews, boxwoods, etc.
