Wow, barring some sort of natural disaster or act of God, it looks like it's going to be a cakewalk for the Dutch team. Danish and British teams also look very strong. Could we maybe see Germany not even get a medal???

Could they beat the Germans if they had their top team I guess we won't know that answer this year. Kinda a crappy way to beat the Germans for the first time it would have been exciting if it was an even battle...

With all the talk about Totilas and some of the other young horses/stallions acting up at the jog, here's how an experienced old campaigner like Balagur reacts:

The Dutch team beat the Germans at the euros in 2007 ;) I agree though, it's a shame that it's not the top German team.

It certainly shows the depth of the German program when their "C" team is sitting in second place, with half the rides now complete. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow brings. The Brits aren't far behind them at the moment.

C-team

At this moment they don't have anything better.
IMHO : Germany has to battle for a bronze medal. with Denmark

The depth of the German program is producing 70% riders, and this isn't enough anymore.

Sonesta is there, lucky gal!

And may I just say how FABULOUS it is to see Carl Hester's name up there - it's been far too long, and he is such a star.

Thirteen rides to go in the GP - as expected, the Dutch are solidly in the lead. Germany is still laying in second place at the moment, with the Brits in third. Lots of pressure on Monica Theodorescu and Emma Hindle with the last team rides.

And yes, this is not Germany's "A" string, so good on them to put up such a strong showing.

Now 8 rides left. The young guns are leading the pack - Adelinde, Laura, Matthias, Victoria. It's a nice peek at the future.

Monica will be up shortly, followed by Emma Hindle. Can't wait to see how they do! :D

The Dutch are amazing, huh? Four of the top seven placings - including first and second! I think they are going to OWN international dressage for the foreseeable future.

And I am THRILLED for the Brits! How exciting for them, to win Silver on home turf!

I love Ravel he's such a natural moving horse. In this climate I doubt he would beat Totilas even if he should.

What happened to the last few rides? They haven't posted any new scores since Totilas. It looks as though the French horse Whitni Star is a scratch, but what about the final Spanish and Portuguese rides? Bummer to have to follow Totilas, but I would think they would still want a chance to ride.

Wow, Klaus Balkenhol coached the top place German pair (Matthias Rath/ Sterntaler for 4th) and the top-place British pair (Laura Bechtolsheimer/ Mistral Hojris for 3rd).

What an enviable feat.

And of course, my hat is off to Sjef Janssen and the Dutch program for making history.
