We went trail riding this weekend and another trail rider told us that the previous weekend two people had their trucks broken into (windows smashed) and purses stolen. This was in OH btw for those in the area at Carlisle Reservation.

So just wanted to remind everyone to not leave purses in plain sight (no matter where you are). Take a fanny pack with you instead. I know they're not fashionable but at least you'll have keys and money to get home  Besides your horse doesn't care what you look like

Also, our town has had an increase in crime so just remember to be smart no matter where you are

OH, man; that's no good! I used to love riding at Carlisle; not a place I would have expected for a break in. Good reminder!

Oh man, that's awful.

I don't ever take my purse when DH and I load up to trailer out for a ride. I just secure my driver's license, a credit card, and a little cash in a pocket.

Not just purses and wallets; any valuable should be stashed out of sight. That includes GPS units, cell phones, MP3 players, cameras... best to leave that stuff at home if you can, or take it with you on your ride if it could be useful. The GPS units especially seem to be a big draw for thieves, and even if you take them down they can leave tell-tale suction cup marks on the windshield.

Very true, I actually just learned this recently  They make things that you can put them on and then they sit on your dash and don't leave a mark. You just have to remember to take them down ;)
