I heard a rumor that there was a pretty new facility in Killingworth, but I can't seem to figure out what or where. The details I have, which may be totally incorrect, are that it is about 20 min from downtown Durham, and that there is a water fountain and or brick/wall out front. Not very helpful I know. Perhaps on Country Club Road, or something like that? Any ideas about what and where this place might be would be greatly appreciated!

Well, there's a gorgeous brand new place right up the road from me, but it's over the Killingworth line and in Higganum. (Haddam) Right on Little City Road, about 5 properties down from the HK High School, same side of the road. Actually, in the last year 3 brand new horse properties were built right next door to each other. Coming from the highschool the first on the left is a private facility. The second on the left after that is absolutely stunning...new house, brand new gorgeous barn, brand new gorgeous indoor and brand new gorgeous fencing. I drool a lot driving by, LOL! Now that they knocked down the old house and the new owners finally moved in, I'm not sure if it's private or boarding. Seems rather large for private, but it's not huge. Maybe 8-14 stalls in size judging from the barn.
Then right after that is where Whitney from Whitney's Ridge in Durham moved to. Older beautiful antique house with new A&B barn and huge indoor. If the barn has 2 rows of stalls then probably 20-30 stalls. They do have boarding and training, been open now maybe 6 months? Whitney's has a brick wall out front.
Other than that, I don't think there are any other brand new facilities.

Are you thinking of Whitney Ridge like MB mentioned? That is in Higganum. It is the only new stable I can think of in the area...

Thanks guys, perhaps thats what the biddies were referring to. I haven't seen the place they were talking about, so I can't be sure, but sounds like it might be right.
Misty, in case you are interested, I believe the place next to Whitney's is Tim Malin's new place, built for him by one of his owners. I think the plan was for him to have his own place to train out of. So, probably only training horses/clients.

Yes, but I can say I live in the same town...lol nah nah...
I checked his website and it did say he is back in Connecticut.
It is an absolutely gorgeous farm. The fencing alone must have cost mega dollars...

It is beautiful, Bill has been griping since it went up, "See??? THAT'S how I wanted our place to look! Why couldn't you find something like that when we were looking?"
Yeah, on 1/8 the budget it must have cost to buy that land, build that house and facilities and remove the old house. Sure honey.
I think that fencing is stunning...loved how they matched and complimented everything on that property in natural colors. I do wonder often when I drive by why they didn't fence more of the field though. Not that those paddocks aren;t great sizes, but with another 10 acres or so left open...I'd have added more fenced in areas and large alleys in between for conditioning rides. (and less to mow) I'd give my eye teeth to see the interior of that barn. Who ever the architect and builders were on house and barn...kudos to them for turning a gorgeous open field into an even nicer horse property. LOVE that covered and screened deck off the back overlooking everything!
The place on the other side did a nice job too (opposite side of Whitney's)..I think it's adorable. Love how they perimeter fenced that one. All in all I was just thrilled to see that huge 100+ acre old farm parcel be turned into 3 brand new horse properties rather than a crapload of McMansions. Thank goodness our two towns hate development. :D Whitney did a nice job on their place too...and who ever started that raised bed garden is *way* talented. I couldn't grow anything this year and that garden is blooming like crazy.
BTW, how did those mole things work out?

Supposedly the horse neighbor on the other side of Whitney is the one that gave her all the trouble and she ended up battling at many town meetings to get her permits and the go ahead. I *think* that is the reason there is not much turnout. Although, I did hear all this second hand.
But do know there were editorials in the "Haddam Bulletin" - Of course the city folk are upset that it is a commercial stable and the traffic, oh Lord, of people pulling in and out is upsetting some of the yuppies...
Tell Bill for about 5 million more, he could have had that place..lol
We need to borrow "Scary hunter guy's" tree stand and stake out the place out someday. Must be nice to have that place all to yourself. :sigh:
Cripes, I'd be happy with 2 acres and a run-in.
The mole is back... the little #astard.;)
