chewing the bit...in a bad way.

The title kind of says it all. I've gotten to the point that my mare will carry herself nicely in a low frame, perfectly on the bit. But as soon as I try to bring her up higher (into more of a dressage frame), she get angry and does this little head-bob thing. She basically jerks her nose with every stride, in a behind the bit to on the bit motion. Oddly she doesn't try to jerk the reins from me. If I let her back down, even if I loop the reins, she still does it for quite a while. Advice? :(

she got them done pretty recently. I don't think that's the issue.

If you just had them done by a vet...
Have her checked out by an EQUINE DENTIST... makes a big difference
On the other hand... make sure you have plenty of impulsion coming from behind... because if you are just picking her up with your reins and not backing it up with more leg... she'll invert real quick...

Here is my 2 cents though... I'd get the chiropractor to check her withers!!! I've seen a couple of horses do that... their withers are "out" and they are ok with their heads stretched out because it helps... but you ask them to come up and they "head bob"... Definitely worth looking into!!!
It could have happened in pasture, rolling in stall, etc....
