All of the area hotels for the HITS show grounds in Saugerties NY are full during the M&S league finals. Does anyone have ideas for hotels outside the area that might be available but not incredibly far?
I've looked at all the hotels on the HITS website. I've tried expedia which gives you most of the hotels within 10 miles.
Any hints would be great.
Thanks.

Did you try the Red Ranch Motel? It's 15 min from the show grounds.. I stayed there when I was braiding. It is super outdated, but CLEAN and CHEAP. It is a little distance away but since the roads leading to it are all backroads with speed limits of 50, its only a 12-15 min ride.

There are several hotels in Kingston, which is one exit south of Saugerties (about 20 minutes). The Holiday Inn there wasn't too bad. The Rodeway Inn (formerly the Skytop Motel) is tolerable as well.

Horseless, how funny. I was at the Sky top and really upset when I drove up that road. I thought I was caught in a timewarp and expected the worst. It was so Catskill Kitch like an old resort from the 50s. Restaurant wasn't horrifying either. I would stay there again, if the closer hotels were booked. On the side, I was at the Comfort Inn , I think, all though it might have been the other one, and they had a "smoking permitted" room which I was given. That was not only nasty, but back by the dumpster. Better to sleep in your car than to suffer that. Holiday Inn is o.k. but again, a little trek to the show.

If the Howard Johnson or Choice hotel (I think Clarion but not sure) are booked, you could try the Marriott or Hampton Inn in Kingston, there is also a Super 8, Quality Inn, and maybe a Ramada off exit 19. I would avoid the Super Lodge at all costs!! There are some other smaller B&B type places but I have no experience at them.

You could also try the Catskill Mountain Lodge. The new owners are working hard to fix it up. The place is clean and in a nice setting. The negatives are poor internet and cell phone reception. It is about 6 miles from the horse show. Dogs permitted.
