Possible relocation forces consideration of a horse move as well. Looking specifically in Northern VA in/around DC, possibly as far south as Fredericksburg depending on where the new job is going to be. I know a lot of the recs on the DC show barns thread were for MD, and I have already looked at many of those suggested. Now, I'm interested in No. VA options.

Musts:
1. trainer for hunters. or h/j
2. if trainer leaves for FL, leaves someone behind to continue lessons
3. turnout. Willing to boot for turnout.
4. barn manager has eyes on horses, so if working ammy cant make it out for a day or two, she does not have to worry.
5. willing to do supplements, change blankets if requested, etc.
6. trainer shows on local/rated circuit. not necessarily all shows costing $$$ requiring horse to travel week in, week out. willing to do some of these, can't afford every week.
7. large ring with jumps

Ideally, I'd like an indoor too and a barn that has more adults than kids. Ultimately, must accommodate a busy ammy and take superlative care of the horses. Thanks for any suggestions! I'll see if I can think of any more musts also.

Find out where job is going to be first. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that what you are probably looking for in a barn, in Northern VA, would be in or around Middleburg. #2 is the only iffy thing.

www.cveq.com. Loved my time there and if I still lived in Northern VA, I would absolutely still be there.

All going to depend on where your job is. Quite frankly depending on where you end up working, living - will depend on where your horse goes...there are plenty of great places to board and train in the DC Metro area - problem is going to be if one of those has a stall for you. This area of DC Metro area does offer a lot of good barns to choose from Don't know which barns in MD you looked at. The other thing is there are a lot of good barns which are off the radar so to speak...I can think of 2 in Maryland that would probably be perfect for you... depending on where you will work/live.. I'll PM
