How much do you charge for shipping per horse per mile?
Do you charge differently if its only one way versus round trip?
What if the person you are hauling for is at another barn so it's somewhat out of the way of your destination?
Thanks!

$2/ mile round trip, a minimum of $65 to hook up the trailer.

And remember that the aforementioned prices can ONLY be used if you are a commercial hauler or farm. Private parties cannot charge a hook-up fee or more than 1/2 fuel. If you are a private party and you do charge those, you can be held criminally liable if anything happens as well as the IRS can go after you for tax code violations (e.g. a private party can not charge for insurance, oil, vehicle upkeep, etc.).
How do I know? It was only because of considerate horse owners that I did not end up with huge bill/being arrested when I was hauling for friends (and charging what the farm I rode at would charge) when I was in a major accident (totalled my entire rig). When I could not produce my license and logs to the state patrol etc. they were going to nail me but the horse owners covered for me. Had they so chosen, they could have left me hanging.
Moral of the story: DON'T do it unless you are a commercial hauler or farm and don't act as a representative of the farm for equal pay. It gets VERY messy if there is an accident. DO do it as a friend and split the gas.
I only am posting this as I do not know if you are a pro or private party. Check the DOT regulations in your state.
