Has anyone ever used it before? I've been looking to buy one, but I don't really want to spend $50 on one.
Does it work?
Anyone know where I can get one cheaper?
Does it help your equitation after you take it off?
Thanks!

I have one and I love it! It is just a really good reminder to keep your shoulders back. I feel that it has helped my equitation in the show ring. It is worth the money in my opinion :)

I have one (the Shoulders Back Lite) and love it. I wear it every time I ride and I am not a fan of gimmicks at all. It's a nice reminder of where I should be for the moments in which I tend to get sloppy.

I have a shoulders back that I used regularly for a while. I found that it wasn't helpful with my position so much as it was simply a nagging reminder to sit up because the sooner I did the sooner I would be able to get rid of it. It was uncomfortable, even when properly fitted, and chaffed around the shoulders and under the arms. Also, keep in mind, it is only designed to help with keeping your shoulders down/back and most people with posture problems need more than just that (for example, they need an arch in their lower back, or to sit up with a wider hip angle etc).
My recommendation: if you need the constant reminder then go for it, but personally I think you the shoulders back was far from a panacea and with perseverance you can learn to sit properly on your own.

I loved mine- it was my "secret weapon" when I did the equitation in college. As RWH said, it is a reminder, but it worked a treat for me!

It works pretty well, but for me it bruised the crap out of my armpits!! Not fun! Probably worth a try, but look for one used on ebay or something or even try and make your own because $50 for a triangular piece of fabric and some velcro is ridiculous.

I hate mine. I refuse to wear it. It's really uncomfortable and a pain in the butt to put on. To me, it's just a chaffing, quick fix. Not worth the money!

Love mine but have learned that it must be worn over a lightweight shirt- otherwise it really rubs!

This saved my life this past weekend! I had never used one before this past weekend and I borrowed one from a friend for the flat phase of a final that I competed in and it worked so well. It held my shoulders back very well and I had one of the best flats of my life!

Thanks for the responses everyone! After reading some responses, it seems like a few people show in them. Is that considered cheating? I don't show anyways, but I was just curious.

No, it's not considered cheating. I have one, and use it once and a while, but it does chaff a lot and is hot and uncomfortable. If I really feel like punishing myself, I'll wear it! :D

Technically it isn't against the rules, but in my mind it is cheating so I just try to keep my posture up the old fashioned way by sheer willpower (which isn't always effective, but such is life).

Our daughter used to wear one sometimes. She used to wear it over her shirt and under her coat. They make them in white now. They used to only make it in black. Good luck! It is a good reminder and did help our daughter as a reminder. However, she complained about it being "hard" to put on. I just left it as something between our trainer and our daughter..........lol! I am "just the mom and know nothing." ;)

If I can find mine I will give it to you. I found it really worthless. Only used it twice.

If you need one that is pretty small, I can send you mine - I don't use it at all... how big are you? I'm just under 5'2 and 95lb, so it's too small for a lot of people.
If that'll work for you, PM me your address :)

Does it help increase muscle tone at all? I tend to be really bad about slouching even when off the horse (especially at the computer) so I was thinking that maybe wearing one of these a few hours every day might build up my "sit up straight" muscles a little bit...

Thanks for the responses everyone! I thought I was going to buy from someone on here but she hasn't replied back yet. No biggie, but if anyone still has one for sale cheaply, PM me!

I LOVE mine. I was like you, I did not want to spend the money but once I did I was so happy. I show in it and its fine. I have gotten a few people at my barn to ride in it and they fell in love and ended up buying one for themselves.

I love mine too!! I do agree that it will rub you but I just make sure to wear a tank top with wide straps under and that seems to fix the problem. I don't consider it cheating either, but I guess I wouldn't because I wear mine to show in haha.

Thanks again for all of the responses so far.
Would you guys consider this similar to your shoulders back?

I know a little girl about 12 yrs old who due to a growth spurt and carrying around a very heavy book bag is always slouching. We were always yelling at her to open her shoulders and sit up. Her mom actually took her to the dr. and apparently the muscle development in her upper back had gotten so bad he was going to make her wear a metal back brace. Her mom had just gotten her the shoulders back to help with her riding and the dr loved it! Now she has to wear it for at least an hour a day at home and every time she rides and the difference is incredible.
