I work for a specialty vet clinic where we do alot of followups. I called one of our patients, who is also a vet and owns horses. We were talking about our horses and she told me about her one horse who stopped sweating. She says an "old time" vet told her to feed 1 oz of gin and 1 tbsp of epsom salts. If it doesn't work after 4-5 days, double it. She had to double the dose and her horse started sweating after a few days. She says she hasn't had a chance to talk to the vet who recommended it so she wasn't sure if she was to continue it or stop, but she did stop just to see what would happen, it has been several weeks and the horse is still sweating! Just thought I would pass this on..I had never heard this treatment before.

Interesting. I remember reading somewhere a while back that supplementing with magnesium can help nonsweaters. I also know that if you read the labels on Let Em Sweat and Pro Sweat, you will see magnesium as an ingredient.
This year, non sweater is home for the summer. Vet was worried he would shut down after colic surgery earlier this year. Didn't order Let Em Sweat this year, started him on Remission late May (high in magnesium). Sweating like a champ all summer.

Beer has been used for years. Never tried it myself as One AC worked well for my horse.

IIRC, something about the hops used in the brewing process of beer is implicated in the anhydrosis issue.
I have zero idea how gin is made, but if hops are involved, that's the similarity.

Gin is a grain alcohol flavored with juniper berries.
It makes me sweat too. Usually right before I throw up. For some reason that stuff doesn't agree with me.

Awww, JSwan, that stinks!!!
My favorite new drink is 1.5oz gin, 1.5oz Triple Sec, and juice from 1/2 a large lemon.
Shaken.
YUM.
Perfect hot Summer night drink :D
