I've always used fleece girths with double end elastic, but in my new jumping saddle, these are quite bulky under my leg and leaves me feeling like I can't get my leg in the right position.

I'm looking for a thin, not bulky girth but with elastic on both sides. I'm using a wintec girth at the moment and it is "elastic," but it's not very stretchy and is tough to tighten.

Thoughts?

I really dislike the Wintec girth, can never get it correctly tight. I like the professional choice girth (neoprene), but it can get hot. The other girth I quite like is the soft touch, though it is not super thin:

The circuit leather girth is a nice leather with double elastic:

This one is expensive, but contour makes it feel less bulky:

I like this one:

It's alot like the Professional choice girth, but a bit thinner. I've never had a problem with the thinner neoprene girths getting hot.

Mohair girth?

It's a little pricey, but I'm quite fond of my Thinline girth. Low profile, non-slip just like a neoprene girth but doesn't leave the "ickies" on my horse's girthline that neoprene leaves, breathes better than neoprene, and elastic on both ends. The girth does have a leather outer, but with a coat of Hydrophane oil and some Lederbalsam, the leather has withstood daily hose-downs in the wash rack.

I also have a Soft Touch girth that I like, but it's pretty bulky. I dislike the Pro Choice ones (too hot/makes girth ickies) and mohair gives me irrational nightmares about catching my stirrup/boot/spur in the girth on XC.

My old super-sensitive guy loved the soft touch girth. It is thicker than the Wintec, but I never noticed it under my leg or felt that it was bulky in any way. That being said, His Highness, the highly opinionated 3 year old, hates it and only likes my old as the hills leather girth. Go figure.

Try one of these. They are 100% wool felt and you can order elastic at one or both ends-or not. They come in brown and black, and my TB loves his. It's soft, breathable and low profile. Kitti will have whatever you want made for it, and mine has lasted over 2 years for everyday use. When the sweat and horse hair dries on it, I curry it clean, rinse it with a hose and throw it over a fence to dry. I use mine in shows too. Really, the best product for a horse with sensative skin when you don't want a thick fuzzy girth.

I just bought (or asked my mom to buy me for Xmas) the circuit girth from dover because it was on sale.

I usually use a fleece girth with Flo but they are falling apart. I got a soft touch for her but it was too thick. She doesn't have much room between her elbow and girth and anything too thick gives her rubs on her elbows.

I have the dressage version and it's awesome. Perfect for the Flo-Joe.

I like my SMX girths. Not bulky, easy to clean, and they don't rub Stryder's sensitive areas. :) You can try one when I'm in town if you want.
