Hi Everyone-
Anyone know of a decent barn to board 2 mares near Ann Arbor, MI? I am moving from Brighton to the Ypsi/Saline area and need a closer place to board that is not too pricey. Anyone know of a place??
Thanks!!:)

There are plenty of potential places, but you'll have to be more specific. Do you need access to an event trainer at the facility? What would you define as "pricey" (some people think $200 is spendy, others think it means $500)? Do your horses have any special needs, or do you have requirements about amount of turnout? Do you need an indoor arena?

Hi-
I will be moving to the Ypsi/Saline area and I work in Manchester - so anywhere in that area. I pay $400 per horse now and that is higher than I want to stay at, but for the right place I may consider it. I do not need access to a trainer and my mares have no special needs other than supplements once a day (I prepackage them). I do need an indoor. My only requirements are that my horses are safe and happy and that I have access to an indoor with jumps. I don't mind if I have to put-up and tear-down every time I jump. My 15yo is 17.1-17.2 and must have 4 shoes. My 4yo is barefoot. They are very well behaved in general. I love the place I am at now (Brookside), but it will be 1 hour away 1 way. Any ideas? I have heard some horror stories about AA area barns....
Thank you for any info!

Not sure of farm name, but Kathy and Don Swallwell in Manchester, Amy Riske in Manchester, Kelsey Overbey-Boos at http://www.watershipdowns.com/

You have a PM. Milton's care at Brookside is going to be hard to match even at $400, but there are a few places that might be a decent compromise. If cost is an issue, I ditto scubed's suggestion to look west to Manchester, where the going rate is closer to $325-$350 (going rate in A2 is definitely $400-$450).

Check out Hawthorn Hill Farm and Jan Dually in Ann Arbor. Not sure what they charge for board. Great place with wonderful people. Decent sized indoor, big field, outdoor. Mostly H/J types. Fantastic location right outside of town about 5 minutes from M-14 Miller/Maple exit. PM me if you want more information.

Board price is well above OP's budget, unfortunately. Very nice place and practically the only game in A2 when it comes to A-circuit hunters (well, with turnout anyway).
