So I have ventured back to eventing after more than a decade of FEI dressage. Just renewed my membership online and was able to look up results from back in the day...and it didn't cost me a penny to do so!

The USEA gets a huge thumbs up from me as it is so much more streamlined than that other organization.

(now to work up some courage and go jump those things that don't fall down!) Just kidding. :uhoh: I think.

Welcome to the Dark Side! Altho I think you are already acquainted with it!
Yes, the USEA has a marvelous website and the people behind the scenes who keep it up are great people I happen to know and admire a good bit. They have a superb work ethic. What is your plan of attack? Where will you be headed? Love to hear what you might want to do next...and will be looking for you at local events! :)
PS Your mom is the BEST at supporting our Young Riders, too, with the stallions services!

Thanks for the vote of support! Everyone is invited to laugh if you see me puking before cross country - ok??? Or if I commit the ultimate DQ error and halt at the beginning of my dressage test!!! It just seems so WRONG to me!!!

Mom has graciously allowed for me to event her mare a bit during the early fall and then Sally will get her back to move back up to Training (provided she doesn't sell first). Mom really does like horses that are well rounded and supporting eventing is one way of giving that philosophy a bit of a boost. :)

I think we're going to ease into things with the Starter Trials at FH in Sept at Novice and then Sally is the boss as to where Kitty and I go from there.

It is going to be a funky kind of deja vu - my last bit of eventing was in '97 on Kitty's mother ! Oh well...off to read the rule book as things have certainly changed since then!!!

Welcome back! You'll be out there kicking around in no time!

While you're on the USEA website (and after you've had fun reading the fabulous blog), make sure you get a look at USEA's new online magazine (in addition to the print version, there are now gorgeous, glossy, easy to use online magazines with different content, articles, and tons of photos). The latest one (came out today) has a wonderful Q&A column with Olympian Abigail Lufkin about sports psychology issues in connection with riding, including some thoughts about dealing with fear and jumping! Terrific resource, beautifully done.

Tasker,

Welcome back to eventing! :D I came back several years ago. I am so happy that I did. For me, Hunterland just did not have the same rush, as flying cross country.

Do you remember how far back the records go? Also, how did you pull them up on the web site? Mine would have been from the late 60's and early 70's.

Thanks Auburn & GotSpots! :) I'm getting a bit excited about all this - quite a big change from piaffe & passage but it is all good fun!

Auburn - I was able to find results of events going back to the mid 90's...but I'm not sure if horses competing below Prelim had to be registered...so those results for my career just aren't available to the best of my knowledge. Click on the button that reads USEA Services Login (top right hand side of the homepage) and go through the instructions.

The website is so gosh darn easy to navigate and find info - what a refreshing change!

Hey Tasker - I was at your barn with the horse club a few weeks ago. I didn't realize that this was you. Er, if that makes sense.

ANYWAY, welcome back to eventing. I'll be at FH too so I'll be sure to cheer for you and Kitty. I just hope you're not in my division!

VW - if you had asked me if I was planning on getting back into eventing that night I would have laughed at you!!!

God bless Kitty though - she is so confident over jumps - she says - settle back, I've got it under control and then is just perfect! :) Love that mare! Sally has done an incredible job teaching her her job! We go for a lesson with Sally on Thursday, provided she's feeling up to teaching...

(keep in mind 20 years ago the jumps couldn't be high enough, wide enough and I would gallop past the ring where mom & Emily were schooling yelling "Endless cirlces!" and I was the queen of the just-a-bit-too-long-longspot!)
