I just wanted to bump this back up to the top. I went and looked at this boy today. Hes beautiful and has a great personality. Unfortunately hes going to be a bit too much for me at this time...but definately if someone is looking for a nice project horse to bring along check him out.

i want to be clear when I say this horse was much more on edge yesterday when Jersey Girl loooked at him. My wife said it was 95 degrees and he was agitated by the flies. NOt making excuses, but this horse as far as OTTB's go is on the calmer side. Anyone reading this thread could gallop him on the racetrack tomorrow and not get run off with.

His feet are above average for a TB.

He does not crib.

He's sound. Just a horse who wins the NW/3 lifetime, but not good enough to win the NW/4.

Bumping up for Dick.

If this fellow is still at the track and has been hand walking for a week or longer he is bound to be a touch more on his toes than if he is getting turned out or in regular exercise. Most of these horses settle right down once they leave the track and are getting regular turn out and/or other mental stimulation, such as groundwork, lunging, or being ridden.

You just can't beat a good ottb. Especially with free shipping! Good for you, Dick, for finding this fellow a good home.

I will personally vouch for Dick. He and his wife are simply amazing to work with. I adopted his gray mare that was listed on the forum back in January. We spoke for the whole month while I was waiting for her final race. She raced on Valentine's Day and was with us the next morning. She has adjusted well to her 24 hour turnout, guards my mare and foal, and if she could fit her big 16.3 hand self in our pockets, she certainly would. If I was in a position, I would jump at the chance to get this boy. A little time in the non-race world and you'd have yourself one nice horse. Anything and everything Dick and his wife know about this gelding will be your information as well ...

I just wanted to clarify, the big reason I didn't bring this horse home is because I where I keep my horses. Its a small farm owned by a friend's parents. Her parents tend to be fairly timid and easily intimidated, so it limits what I can really bring home no matter how nice they are. This horse is still up from the track (just a young horse with energy) who would need time to settle in and some ground work...he didn't seem mean or aggressive in any way. He's a nice moving, nice looking horse with a very cool personality.

Sent a PM. I have room for this boy in VA. Waiting for pics. Also what is his name so I can check pedigree. Thanks.

I'm probably out of the 2 hour range, but could come and pick him up.
