View Full Version : Looking for Dressage in Victoria BC

Aug. 12, 2009, 09:29 AM
Long story short, I'm moving out west to Victoria BC in a month (short term 8 month move for school). My horse injured himself about a month ago so I have made the very hard decision to leave him here (due to my awesome barn owner) and find another horse to ride once I get to the coast.

Before he injured himself we were schooling solid second level with some third level movements.

So ideally I would love to find a horse to take lessons on that could keep me riding at (and push me above) the level I'm at now. My horse is a big mover, so I'd love to keep my sitting trot seat!! I'm a full time student so I would love to find a situation where I could do 2 rides a week, either two lessons or one lesson and a schooling session.

Is it possible to find a 3rd level or higher horse to take lessons on - where's MY elusive school master.:lol:

Does anyone have any suggestions of whom I should contact to try and locate lessons.

Oh and please feel free to PM anything that you may not want to post publicly.

You have a PM
Also try the websites for the Victoria Saanich CADORA and the Lower Island Equestrian Club, which are the two dressage clubs in town.

Try Lisette deRooy. She is fantastic IME. And she does have two horses for lessons - one is a huge gelding, although I'm not sure if either of them would be 3rd level plus at this point. She is a little ways out of Victoria in Sidney though (near the ferry terminal), so this might be an issue if you are bussing it. When I was in Victoria I took the bus out to Sidney and then had to ride my bike for 10-15 minutes to get to the stable. I did it rain or shine, believe me!!

She has a website now, its really slow to load:

There's a girl from my barn riding with Lisette while she's at school and has nothing but positives to say!

I have sooo many positive things to say, and I really only rode with her for 8 months (didn't live in Victoria very long). I miss her a lot!!

pm me op if you want details!
