Looking for some information here. Bought a new horse. He was imported in '01 from Germany & my trainer sold him within the barn. Unfortunately that owner no longer has his papers so when I bought him I only have his USEF info.

He's branded Westphalian. By Funke out of Papagena.

Wasn't sure if anybody knew that stallion or had pictures or maybe relatives? Would love to know more as this is just a really cool horse.

Thanks! :D

Thanks so much!! :D

The pics from the stallion side were great to see. Can see some of the resemblances.

Looking at the mare list, there's 4 possible mares (my horse is 17 YO so I know it's not any of those young ones ;)). My trainer speaks German so maybe he can help me look at it more.

Thanks again!!!

How sad and what a breeder's nightmare. A 17yr old horse had papers ONE OWNER ago. And people wonder why breeders get so upset.

To the OP: I know that this is not your fault, but this is why I cringe.....on my horse's papers I have the following: "This horse can be returned to Iron Horse Farm at any time and in any condition - no questions asked". This is only a possibility if the papers follow the horse. It becomes more and more important as they get older.

Maybe you can contact the registry........I know that GOV will replace lost papers for $150.

I was just contacted about a 1993 Dutch gelding that I owned. I bought a pregnant mare and my name appeared on his papers as the owner. The woman who bred the mare appears on the papers as breeder.

This gelding was going to be put down and a horse rescue took him in.

The rescue person contacted me for information.

Isn't that something that the papers followed the gelding?

She is asking for a bill of sale from me so she can put him in her name. The people who owned him never transfered him into their name so I am still his owner according to the KWPN NA.

I know--obviously he's an older gelding, but I still would have liked his papers if they exist (they did when he came from Germany in '01). I am sure the former owner has them somewhere, but it's not his priority obviously.

Who do I contact for a Westphalian branded horse? I know his year of birth, name he was imported with & the number under his brand.
