I have this on the eventing board but wanted to the sport horse board to critique this guy for eventing (prelim). I am not sure what I like about him but something does (I think its his cute face)!

He is a colt but I am NOT looking at him as a stallion prospect.

The only thing that really jumps out at me is his lower legs and the fact that he looks camped out behind. Both of which I think are from the bad camera angle or the fact that he has no toe. :S

WOW! What a really, really nice type.

I agree that he needs some toe behind, but that should be an easy enough fix.

He looks lovely, good neck, good "look" - bold and eager looking, good hip, shoulder. Nice sporthorse project.

Good luck. :D

Beautiful horse. No major conformation defects.

Have you seen him move somewhere besides a gravel road on a windy day next to running horses? :-) Because, the videos show a horse that is very tight in his back who is not moving his shoulders at all. Could just be the environment with too much testosterone and perhaps his feet are sore. However, since lower level eventing is so dependent upon the dressage score, if he moves like that all of the time, you are going to have a hard time being in the top half of the dressage pack.

no i havnt seen him in person yet. hes about 8 hours away but i like him enough to go see him. and i can see other horses in the area while i am down there.

i am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about his movement and like you said, its a windy day, on gravel, hes a 3yr old stallion trotting in hand next to a paddock of running horses, and it looks like hes very reactive to the lead shank yanking his nose every stride. so well see.

Assuming he is sound he should be able to be an eventer. Whether or not he can go prelim is a crap shoot. You start at the bottom and see how far up you can go. Best of luck.
