I have an AAFE (Asociación Argentina de Fomento Equino) registered mare that I bred to Escapade last year. I was planning on taking the mare and colt in the Oldenburg inspections in October. To make sure I had everything in order, I emailed the ISR/ Old NA contact and attached the paperwork I had for the mare. I was more just making sure that they accepted Argentinian mares because I couldn't find a for sure answer online. Anyways, they emailed me back, and very quickly, to let me know that they take AAFE registered horses, but the paperwork I had for my mare was not the original papers and they do not accept papers without the AAFE stamp and signature of the Registry Director. I thanked them and asked for other options if I failed at retrieving the original papers for the mare. They responded, again very quickly, that a letter form the AAFE that the mare is registered with them would be sufficient in getting her inspected by them for the Main Mare Book, not just the Pre- Mare Book. I emailed her breeders and they responded with the papers I have for the mare are say " Transferencia sin retirar" which means that the registration papers with the change of ownership were never retrieved from the offices of AAFE.

So I emailed the AAFE asking how to go about getting paperwork for a horse registered with them. They replied with: "First of all we need the name of the mare. Any other information such as the name of the father, birth date and any brand will be very helpful to find the correct one."

I then emailed them back with the paperwork I have fore her, pedigree query from their site, her sire and dam's name, her birth date, a pic of her brand, and her AAFE registration number. That was 2 weeks ago. I emailed them again a week ago just to follow up and still have not heard anything. :(

Basically, I was just wondering if anyone has had to communicate with them or has had to get any papers for their AAFE horse's. I haven't seen much on these forums about Argentinian horse's, or on the internet for that matter. I would call them myself, but the 2 years I took of Spanish in college doesn't really have me at a level to communicate in the language. If only all registries were as helpful as the Oldenburg registry was for me.

Thank you in advance for any help or guidance anyone can offer.

Eduardo Rosenburg was the AAFE president last I recall, and he speaks excellent English. Who was the breeder of your mare?

That's a relief! I'd so much rather communicate via email, but it's good to know that if I need to make a call there won't be a communication issue.

She was bred by the Avendaño's out of Buenos Aires.

Well, I have now sent the AAFE 4 emails with no response. I am getting so desperate with the inspection in a month. I emailed her breeder again, as they are located in Buenos Aires, to see if she had a contact in the AAFE or if she could help any further. She wrote back in less than an hour to let me know that she would go to the AAFE herself and speak to them about my request. The only problem with that is she is in Sweden for 2 more weeks. Even with the inspections in 4 weeks, that's the best news I have heard! I guess if we can't get the papers prior to inspection we could take her for the Pre- Mare Book and then upgrade after we do receive the papers/letter from the AAFE. Definitely not what I want to do because I think this foal is amazing (may be biased:winkgrin:)

It's unfortunate that I cannot get a response from anyone in the AAFE though:no:. Her breeder responds in an hour and the ISR responds in less than a day, but nada from the AAFE. I am just so glad I scanned the copy of the paperwork I had for her and sent it to the ISR before the inspection because I would have been so upset if we got there and found all of this out. I always thought her papers were the originals. Just a note for anyone new to this or anyone that may be unsure about any inspection process: Communicate with the registry/ inspection site. You will save yourself from possibly making a huge mistake.

I cannot commend the ISR/ Oldenburg NA enough for their communication through email. Also her breeder, the Avendaño's, out of Buenos Aires. They bred an amazing mare and have been so helpful to me.

Have you attempted calling them?

That's what I would do, even if I prefered email corespondance. You are getting down to the wire, if you can't communicate with them, then try and find someone who can.

I tried calling, but I do not have an international calling plan on my phone. I meant to stop and get a phone card, but ended up getting home very late last night. I have asked a couple of people to make the call for me that I knew would be able to communicate in case I could not, but they have not yet, and since they are doing me a favor I have not hounded the issue.

The ISR said a scanned copy that is in an official email from the AAFE or accompanied by a letter from the AAFE stating the scan is from them would be sufficient for the inspection. I am keeping my fingers crossed that her breeder gets somewhere with the AAFE when she returns to Argentina. I am forever grateful to her!

I attached a pic of the baby boy at 3 moths after a bath. It's not the best quality because I took it with my cell phone...
