Posting for my barn owner.

She is taking her TB Broodmare to an German Oldenburg Inspection and they are requiring the registraion #'s of the mares parents. Informaton she does not have and the sire is no longer alive.

An email was sent to the Jockey Club as both parents were TB's. They replied back that they can not release registraion #'s for individual horses even though the inspection is requiring it.

Are there any other avenues or direction you can point us in to obtain the information?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am confused. Does she have the mare's jockey club papers? Wouldn't the papers show the parents' registration numbers? If she does not have the mare's papers, couldn't she get a new set issued from the JC?

I would call the JC office. They have always been helpful to me whenever I have had a papers-related question.

She should be okay if she has the original JC papers for the mare. They may charge her an additional fee for a pedigree seach if she doesn't have an official 4 or 5 generation pedigree, but the fact that she doesn't know the registration numbers for sire and dam shouldn't be a hindrance at the inspection.

I couldn't remember if the sire/dam numbers were on the papers so I pulled out a few sets to check. The reg number of the horse is on the papers and the names of sire/dam but not their numbers.

But ditto what you said about the JC office being helpful.

Thanks. Off the top of my head I could not remember if the reg. numbers of the parents are usually on JC papers.

It has been my experience that not having the TB parent's registration numbers is not a problem with the registries. The Jockey Club will not give you those numbers. You can print out a free 5-generation pedigree for JC TBs at www.equineline.com. This pedigree along with your mare's original JC registration papers should be sufficient.
