I'm thinking about getting a custom Charles Owen gr8 helmet, but I want to make sure I don't order something ridiculous since I can't return it. Does anyone have pictures of their custom gr8 in colors other than black/black, brown, black/grey? I was thinking of getting a black/light blue or black/lavender but I haven't been able to find any pictures of what the helmet looks like in person/on someone. Also, if you've seen someone wearing an unconventional colored gr8, what did you think of it? Is it better to just stick with all black? (And I'd be using the helmet for jumpers and schooling, not hunters!)

I just noticed these yesterday at SmartPak and think they're very cool! There is a brown with a light blue stripe at our local tack shop and it looks great. I was thinking about the black/light blue myself (just for schooling, since I do ride hunters). :-)

I say go for it!

I have a co that I ordered in charcoal/charcoal. Its not colorful but is unique enough that it does not look like everyone elses. I also can show the hunters in it so I don't have to have another helmet for showing.

I saw a navy with light pink in one of the show booth tack shops. I thought it was beautiful- but don't think I'm daring enough to wear it.

I love them and think that they look great! Especially the Navy/Grey on the smartpak website. I wish they fit my head :(

i think they'd be really cute for schooling! and sure in jumpers as long as it's not hot pink or anything ridiculous.

I have seen people with an all grey GR8 (a lighter shade of grey) with a light grey coat and it looked really classy! I think something along those lines, matching helmet and coat, would look really good! Or for jumpers, matching helmet and ear net!

I want to see a picture of the cow print one!!! LOL!!!! They have giraffe too! hehehehe. I can't find any pictures of that material actually ON a helmet though. Sad. That would be hillarious for schooling!

I need to try one on... I've heard rave reviews about them so I'm curious. My GPA textium does fit me pretty well (the titium ones do not fit at all! Holy circular helmet lol), but I'm always up for something pretty and new :)

I don't see many of the navy with silver stripe, which I like. I'm also picturing something like a royal blue with black/charcoal/silver. I saw a picture somewhere (maybe someone else has seen it, too) of a combined driving team that all had on matching RED CO helmets... it was pretty cool-looking!

One of the driving teams at Live Oak this year had blue with yellow in the middle. Cool looking!

I have the navy with silver (which actually is light gray). Blue and silver are my barn colors, so I though it was pretty cool.

I have the charcoal/charcoal, so does my trainer. I love that look with a gray hunt coat. I had a pink/silver custom one but the pink was such a PITA to keep clean and I am super anal and couldn't stand it looking dirty.

Oooooh.... our barn colors are baby blue, yellow, and black. I think my trainer might give me a "WHAT is THAT?!" If I got a baby blue and yellow one.... black with baby blue might be a little more acceptable for schooling/lessons. Does anyone have that color?

I still want to see the animal print. :(

I want to see a black/navy one... i don't know if it would be really cool, or clash really bad. Maybe charcoal/navy.

I really want to order a brown/brown GR8. I think they are to die for. As for other colors in jumpers and schooling, do whatever you think looks best. Personally, I prefer more conservative things, but the jumpers don't have to be conservative. Go with what you like. :)

Two or three years ago our local tack shop was selling these in the black/light blue and grey/pale pink combinations, they were standard colors at the time, not custom orders. Although I prefer more conservative apparel and would not wear them myself, both were very pretty. At the time they were not very popular though, we had one of each color I think and it took ages to sell them.

wouldn't it be nice if the JR8's could be customized like this? That way we could have the fun custom colors for schooling without spending all that cash on the GR8s...hmmmm

IRH makes a knock off one. I think I saw it on SmartPak's website with black/lavendar. That might give you some-what of an idea of what the CO would look like.

I don't know if they do it any more, but when the jr8s first came out, they did do a black with pink stripe, which ponykid uses for schooling. she would have LOVED a blue/silver one to use in the jumpers, since those are the colors she uses for the horse, but then switched to the ayr8 because it's so much cooler and she overheats easily. black/silver was the best we could do.

i *love* the giraffe one. I really do.

I saw someone wearing a cow print helmet schooling at a horse show and i have to say it looked really tacky and ugly (and i thought it was kinda cool when i saw it at smartpak).

Then again the person riding shouldn't have really been drawing too much attention to her self:eek:
