I am moving to Utah in the fall and after only ever living on the east coast, I know nothing about the hunter jumper scene out there.
I'm hoping to find a more permanent (non horse related) job eventually but until I get settled I'd really like to be able to ride and work a little out there.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, you will probably find it very limited compared to what you are used to. Utah Hunter Jumper website http://www.uhja.org/. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

I'm an East-coaster that lived there for 2 yrs and rode in Heber Valley just outside of Park City. I rode at more of an all-discipline barn with eventing/dressage/western/everything. It's a lovely facility, one of the few with grass fields and an indoor. I'm not sure they're looking to hire, but I could certainly give you the trainers' info and you could go visit and network a bit. If that interests you I'd be happy to send you more info. Make sure you have someone take you trail riding in the high mountain valleys at some point. It's really gorgeous up there. Good luck!

Thank you! It's definitely going to be something different than what I'm used to but I could use a change.

When I lived in Provo, the nearest and best place I could find was Lynnleigh Farms in Sandy. I never took more than a few lessons there, because I didn't own a car, but I enjoyed my experiences there. Decent facility, nice trainers who seemed to know their stuff (I want to say I took lessons from Robin? Not sure anymore - this was in 2002). Take what I say with a grain of salt, though, because I never got involved enough to learn about any issues that may have existed that could've been turnoffs. Not to say there -were- issues, but that IF there were, I was unaware of them. :)
Good luck in your move, and I hope you find a place that suits you!
