I'm here in Krakow, Poland for my job and will probably be here several more times over the next 10 months.
I see nice looking horses pulling the carriages around the Market square. All I can think of is..would be a cute hunter!

Has anyone bought from Poland? The dollar isn't too bad.

I don't know about buying one from there but I am so jealous that you are in Krakow right now! I spent six weeks there last summer for a study abroad program and just loved it! There were some nice looking horses around the Rynek-I spent a lot of time just sitting at the cafes watching them. What kind of work do you do (if you don't mind me asking)?

Ummm...I am sure they do. If nothing else, the Arabian people still snag some of them over there, tho not quite as many as they used to. Gotta be easier then it used to be with the old USSR hovering over all commerce.

One of the standard European shipping agents/consolidators can help you and I am sure some on here can give you contact info for the more reputable ones that can ship out of Poland. Probably have to ship to Amsterdam and be put together with a load there...and these people make up loads all the time.

Yes, my husband bought and imported a Polish Trakehner stallion in the late 90s. GORGEOUS horse, he did both the First year hunters and the Level 5 & 6 jumpers (and did well in both, too!).

A horse dealer I know did a buying trip over there maybe two years ago. He showed me a video with a lot of really nice warmblood hunter, jumper and eq type horses. The prices even including import were very reasonable for what they were.

My old trainer used to, and I think still does bring horses from Poland. I have a Polish WB mare that I love, she is mostly older Hanoverian bloodlines. She did the C/A Jumpers before I got her. She is a very nice mover, and could certainly have been a dressage horse too. She is technically called a Polish Half Bred Horse, or SP. Her motherline is Wielkopolski.
They have many nice horses there, and lots of the present day favorable pedigrees.
Here is some information on Polish Horses

Good luck!
