Why did you choose to put your horse on this and how soon did you see results?

I tried Mare Magic and went through an entire bag of it with no noticeable results.

I ended up switching to Levelor-X (recommended by another COTHER) and had great results in a couple of weeks.

My mare would get pissy during her heat cycle and let me know she wasn't happy when I rode her, which is why I tried Mare Magic. Now that she is on Levelor, I barely notice her heat cycles.

I did it because my mare was a totally uncomfortable grouch under saddle when in heat. Her sides became very sensitive, where she became girthy (NOT typical for her at all), and would hit the roof every time I gave a leg cue.

It took about a month to really kick in, I'd say. Now, no more uncomfortable grouch. :)

I use just bulk raspberry leaf, though.

How much do you give her? And where do you find it?

My mare gets moody and extra back sore when she is in heat. I'd love to find something to help her. :)

Awesome. :D You probably just made my mare a lot happier! (well, in the future anyway!)

My mare was having bad cycles- grouchy and uncomfortable, and it was only compounded by the fact that she has ulcers. Put her on raspberry leaves 2 months ago, hardly noticed her last cycle. I got mine from Monteray Bay Spice Co. for $4 a pound, and feed 1/4 cup a day.

I might try it myself after seeing her results ;)

Saw a difference within a month with my mare. That was about a year and a half ago - she's still on it and I have yet to see one sign of her being in heat :D. She used to be so uncomfortable to the point where she would literally throw herself against the stall walls - I even took her to the vet clinic to make sure everything was okay inside (thankfully all was fine!). She was never bitchy or mareish - just very, very uncomfortable. She is much happier now and she'll forever be on this stuff . I buy the raspberry leaves in bulk from www.bulkherbstore.com (http://www.bulkherbstore.com) for dirt cheap :).

I have a gelding who I started on Mare Magic on the advice of my trainer who has a similar gelding that the product worked for. These guys are hot, nervous, and have difficulty with focus. I give mine the loading dose, and I noticed a difference in his ridability and focus a few days after starting. It really worked well for mine--you can tell a huge difference when he doesn't have it.

Where do you find Levelor-X? And what is it?

I googled it because I was curious. It looks like a nice mix, although probably cheaper to make your own.

Basically Raspberry Leaf, Chasteberry, and Magnesium. All known to help with cycling mares.

I put my mare on Feisty Mare (similar product). She was on it for about a month, but I didn't notice any real difference when she came in heat. The only thing it did seem to do was make her kind of dull and sluggish, so I took her off it! I am also curious about Levelor-X, I've never heard of it before.

I put my mare on Mare Magic because I wanted to see if it would make her less angry under saddle. [She HATES flat work!]

I didn't like the results. At first it did make her work ethic better, but then it started making her ultra sensitive and even if you barely touched her she'd like fly sideways, or make really dramatic transitions. It made her work ethic better, but also made her way too sensitive.

I use this on my gelding, he gets 2 scoops every other day. As long as he is continually worked (as in I don't get sick with the flu for two weeks and can't turn him out) this works well for him.

Not to hijack this thread, but how long does a pound last you when you give 1/4 cup per day? I've been debating trying this on my gelding to see if it will help him focus!

I used it on a mare that I used to have. She was just hyper and crazy. She also peed all the time. Its was almost like she was constantly in heat. This stuff was amazing! I was not expecting anything to happen, but she calmed WAY down. I don't remember exactly how long it took for it to work, but it was no more than 2 days. I definitely recommend it.

We started our mare on it about 3 weeks ago. We saw a difference within days. Her crabbiness and opinionated reactions under saddle lessened dramatically. On the ground she was patient and loveable instead of impatient and cranky. I tried a small bag of brand-name Mare Magic, and now I'm going to order bulk.

Is it legal to show on raspberry leaves? Sounds intriguing, but my mare shows regularly. The comment about someone's mare throwing herself against the wall hit home...my mare does the same thing!

was going to try the leaves on a pony mare, but didin't know how much to purchase at a time. How long does a pound last? thanks!
