Girth Gall

We donated 2 horses to a riding camp last summer, and we are in the process of bringing one of them home. He just isn't working out. I am told that he has a wound (she calls it abscess) on his belly that will swell up and then drain. She said it will look like it's healing but then swell up and drain again. She hasn't taken him the vet nor had a vet out. He was getting a girth gall the last time we went and visited with them. Does this sound like a girth gall or something else? We haven't actually seen the wound so I am only going by what she says.


ETA: We will be taking him straight to the vets once we pick him up. I am just curious as to if this could be a girth gall or maybe something else.
