It's plus 6hrs in Germany (04:20am now) - try tomorrow. (did you see the plug-in at the bottom of the page)

So, both Firefox and Safari aren't allowed to run certain kinds of WMP video....(despite the Flip4Mac plugin)

I found a user board that recommended using the Opera browser and it worked. I did a search for 'Opera web browser' and it downloaded quickly.

just watched the end of the 6 yo small final and can't wait to see Fuerst Romancier this afternoon. Go Ulf!

Can anybody tell me when Furst Romancier is going in the ring again today? What time? I don't want to miss him.

Hey someone needs to tell me how Furst Romancier does... My mare was just confirmed yesterday in foal to him.

Aug. 8, 2009, 11:43 AM
I really like the Bellissimo gelding that was just up, and so did the judges!

He has a horrible name though -- Blinkpundt.

Aug. 8, 2009, 11:47 AM
Yes - The Belissimo x Weltmeyer that just finished was spectacular! loved him . . very flashy too. He looked fun to ride.

Aug. 8, 2009, 11:58 AM
I only came in at Driver, but that was a nice nice place to start. Lovely. I really liked the Blickpunkt (sp?) horse too, more so than the judges even. Thank you to Equibrit for the link, I was just aimlessly clicking to a couple of places while recouperating before going outside to work and it was great to spend the time watching this. Now I'm behind getting my outside work done though. Really nice that they also gave the summaries in English - that was very considerate.

Oh no - now it's foals. Damn I have to get to work.

he was 4th with a score of 8.74

The ribbon ceremony - it's got some "exciting" moments. Boy, I missed a lot of lovely horses.

I think that's Fuerst Romancier getting the 4th slot (I was making coffee and looking across the room) If so, boy was he "old pro" in a surrounding where all the other horses were having some mini meltdown moments.

Aug. 8, 2009, 12:24 PM
FR seemed very sane in the awards ceremony...the other horses were freaking out at something, and he just trotted in and out and seemed relaxed.

The winner is Romanov x Don Schufro.

Oh, sigh. And now I think I have to eat something sinful to fill up the wanting in my stomach.

I actually kind of like the name Blickpunkt. It's German for Viewpoint.

Fuerst Romancier wasn't as cadenced in the trot as I've seen him and he dropped out of the canter in the counter canter (oops, there goes the submission score!)

Mostly he didn't look as 'in the groove'....I wonder if he's going through a growth spurt? I think that's one of the hardest thing about the YH stuff: you never know what 'phase' they're going to be going through when a big show comes up.

Aug. 8, 2009, 05:03 PM
FR was very blah today (i am here in person in verden). Gaits are just no where near as interesting as some of the others. Unbalanced in the canter work and occaisionally in the corners he looked NQR. Driver was phenominal in trot in person. Blickpunkt was horribly underscored - but no way a gelding is going to win. The spectators were really upset with his scoring and whistling quite loudly at the judges.

I thought Driver was a gelding?

He is.

Aug. 8, 2009, 09:07 PM
Are any of these videos going to be available after the fact?

Aug. 8, 2009, 09:36 PM
Driver is a gelding. Blue Hors Romanov is siring some NICE babies! I think we need to use him more in the U.S.

Here's the video of Driver on youtube.com from Verden that someone posted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keQA84jAzrg

Not sure about any other videos. I would love to watch Blickpunkt again!

Aug. 8, 2009, 10:46 PM
Thanks kdavies. I would love to watch Blickpundt again too!

Does anyone know if the music heard on the live stream is played during the competition?

Aug. 9, 2009, 12:27 PM
Does anyone know if there is a video of Zolena (Sir Sinclair-Cabochon) from the 5 year old qualifier and final? I have the only other Sir-Cabochon out there ( a 2 yr. old filly) and am interested in how Zolena moves, etc. I should be so lucky to end up with a horse half as nice, but am interested in seeing if there are any similarities in Zolena and my filly (besides looking just like dad :) ).

Here's a youtube clip of the awards ceremony

Here's an old youtube of the mare, Uno Donna Unique, who got 2nd

An older youtube of Blickpunkt

I thought he was a bit underscored too, and the audience reaction to his and Driver's scores was very different. Both really super horses and I don't know that Blickpunkt should have outscored the horses placed above him, but they seemed reserved on his scores and you had the feeling the audience was waiting for the big big scores to go up so they could cheer like they did with Driver and they were kind of left hanging instead.

When I saw all the horses come in for the awards I really regreted not having been able to watch the whole thing.

Aug. 9, 2009, 05:58 PM
yep - Driver is a gelding!
Zolena was hot hot hot and tense in the topline as well. The walk, the canter and the submission were scored pretty low.

As to Blickpunkt - the feeling was that the judges had started high on the scoring and had left room for the end with Blickpunkt. No doubt the trot was way better on Driver- but in the submission Blickpunkt was horridly underscored. He was perfect in the submission - and still scored lower. So everyone definately picked up on the feeling that the scores were being crafted to give Driver the win.

I saw the 6yos today before heading out to Holland.

Here are some of my pics

Maybe it's the youtube video, but I didn't much care for Driver's trot. Had that hollow look with the tense pause in the step behind. Perhaps that the "in" thing, that and the square frame and black coat.
