I'm trying to find a version of the celtic horse design with 3 horses running in a circle. I've seen it in jewelry and other things but I need a sharp drawing of it. Some of the drawings I've found the horses look kind of funny, almost like big dogs.....I want it for a tattoo.

Anyone have a clear picture of this?

This isn’t it, but it’s COOL:

This is what you want I think…

Go to Google, click on Images and search for "Epona" or "Celtic Horse."

I have this image tattoo'd on my right shoulder blade:

The artist took my pendant, enlarged it on a photocopier to the approximate size I wanted and then drew his own version. He colored the horse to match my Paint mare.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures handy of the tattoo itself handy right now.

Just noticed you're in MD - I got my tattoo done by Tim at Jinx Proof in Georgetown. I'd highly recommend him.

Hey! The first one is very cool and the second is what I'm looking for. I could only find tiny versions of it. Thanks!!!

I looked up their site. I like his work.

I'll try to get a link to a picture of mine so you can see how he did with a celtic horse design. Stay tuned... (I'm at work right now).

Wow glad I didn't go through getting that as a tattoo 10 years ago. I thought it was such a unique design....apparently not even close.

Glad I bought is as a window cling sticker instead!

 Nope. Tied deeply into Celtic history.

It is my farm logo, "Trinity" Brookes Farm. But I make the horses pinto. :p

A word of caution about getting that as a tattoo...

I seriously considered it about 10 years ago. I spoke at length with a woman who is one of that top celtic tattoo artists in the country, and she's done the design several times. In her opinion (and I believe her based on the other celtic tattoos I have), that tattoo needs to be AT LEAST 8 inches in diameter to look good over the long term. There are many relatively fine line details that might look OK for the first year, but over time, even when done by an excellent artist, will bleed. When this design is done by someone NOT familiar with celtic art, the results can be really horrid.

For my horse tattoo, I went with a variation on a horse spiral by Ninth Wave Desgins which the artist customized for me.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

That is very dissappointing. I didn't want it that big :(

I have to agree about the "size" issue. I have a Celtic triskele on my lower back, that I originally wanted on my foot. When they showed me how big it needed to be to maintain its integrity, it got moved to my back! I love it, though!

Very true. Even for my much smaller Celtic horse design, I had to go for a larger size than originally intended. I think mine is about 4" wide. If I really wanted an "exact" portrait of my horse's markings, I'd have to go even larger. Instead, I opted for an "artistic representation." I think that Tim at Jinx Proof did a nice job. The attached picture was taken right after it was done, so I'm still a bit red. It's on my right shoulder blade.

I like it. Perhaps I could do something similar - won't copy yours ;)

That's about the size I want, no bigger. I want to cover one up on my shoulder so it will have to be filled in.

No worries... I don't feel the need to be "unique." After all, mine is basically just a copy of a pendant I had that was designed by someone else. ;)
